Dropped my truck off at 8 and got it back around noon. I think others have had quicker turnaround but this dealership is usually pretty busy and had a lot of appointments. When I called to schedule they didn't mention any special instructions but I've read others have been asked to have fuel at or less than half a tank

They had my truck for over 6 hours, but did the 20k Toyota care service at the same time. Instructions were to show up with 1/4 tank (or less) of gas.

They originally said 4 hours, but revised it to 6 because I was having extra work done. Others have reported as short as 1.5 hours... :notsure:

For those who are waiting for a call, email, text or physically mailed notice that the fix is ready don't... it is ready I had it done today and I have another Truck (TRD PRO) getting it done and it will be ready by today. Rep mentioned that the fix is here but Noone has been notified officially yet. Here is the paper work if your curious.

Just made my appointment and they asked in addition to leaving fuel tank @ 1/4 tank and to empty the backseat and trunk.

I asked if they meant truck bed and she said yes.

but it got me wondering- do they need to do anything in the backseat or bed?

I was guessing they’d just need to drop the tank underneath.

perhaps it’s just a generic message since the recall covers numerous models

Did you get it replaced or just them saying yours was also recalled? I took mine in for service in Feb and they were not ready for the ‘20s yet.

I just scheduled my fuel pump replacement. I was asked to have my tank half full or less and to have my truck bed empty. I asked how the replacement was done and was informed that the bed is raised about 4-6 inches. The tank is not dropped. I said that I really didn't want the bed messed with. According to the service advisor that I talked to, they have determined that raising the bed is the best way to accomplish the replacement. I guess I have to trust their judgement. I have been a customer at this dealership since 1992 and have had a considerable amount of work done by their service department. The know how "fussy" I am. I guess I'll have to trust them, but for sure I will take a ton of pictures before leaving my truck with them.

I sure would appreciate comments from anyone who has had this replacement done by raising the bed.

I'm curious also. I took mine in today, and I'm pretty sure they didn't raise the bed. It took a little less than two hours to replace. You can't see in the shop, so I have no idea how they did it.

I believe our access cabs do NOT need the bed raised. I think and don't quote me but they lowered the tank.

just talked to my buddy who got his done yesterday. he has a Decked system, Leitner rack with RTT & a bunch of lights/wiring and said there’s no way they lifted his bed so he’s guessing they dropped his tank.

said his bed bolts aren’t accessible unless you get under the Decked and need to move rack to do that which would require moving the tent.

maybe there are a couple ways to skin the cat or maybe it’s DC vs AC?

    he has an Access Cab

Got mine done today. Recall, tsb 0092-20, 15k service about 5 hours. Took longer than they had estimated and gave me a free day rental. Told me empty bed and around a 1/4 tank. I've been watching the toyota.com/recall website, no official notice. Had the wife's Highlander done a month ago. Took an hour and a half, there is a hatch under the rear seat.

Generic. They drop the tank on Tacoma. Don’t need access any other way.
