I'd say drive it stock for a while so you know how your changes feel when you add them.

I think many of you have reached my level of risk adversity, and u set stand the root dilemma I have been feeling. I am going to keep it stock with the intent to learn what I need.

On a side note, I am an individual of the outdoors and exploration. I plan on finding trails and taking it off the beating path.

I have already purchased many smaller items that I know are “no brainers” that other have mentioned here. IE, bed mat, all weather floor mats, console tray, tow strap, safety kit, proper recovery hook, even LED interior lights.

long story short, this thread has actively saved me ~4K this month, lol.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
Enjoy it stock for a while and see if you really need/want to do all that stuff.

Drive it stock for a while so when you start to mod it you can notice all the negatives it creates.

Gonna agree with with wheels and tires. That and tint are always my “firsts” on any car

For me , the best mod is no monthly payments and call it your own. Then mod as you like As needed or wanted. Welcome to TW OP.:spending:

Good deal man! You'll get a better idea of how to mod it out after you've put some miles on it and broken it in.

Im mostly in the MOD IT NOW camp. 6 months in and I get hives if I didnt add something new over the weekend,
little stuff like LED bulbs or Meso Customs add ons are fun with little downside. Rock sliders are more expensive but you probably need them. Also, lot of stuff is months on backorder, so if you want it for the summer, better get on it!
The big stuff like a super charger or OV mod? drive it a while and see.

Important stuff like a boat, definitely do now.

i dont regret anything I did. Except maybe the 4 foot Live Laugh Love bed vinyl.

Personally, the way I mod all my vehicles, I always start with tint, weathertechs, and rain visors. Then ill start changing things i just really do not like at all.

For me/ my tacoma, i really just wanted a good/secure "trunk" area, so i added the bed cover, bed mat, and bed leds, followed by leds in a few other places, some interior hydrodipping/extras and thats really about it. just gotta decide what youre going to do with your truck.

Dig right in. It’s your truck. Decent lift, but so are many others. 285s also look killer.

Try to be original. Too many just want to copy someone else’s build to a tee.

I just purchased mine about a month ago as well. I would definitely recommend getting use to it and breaking it in then slowly mod from there. I’m still getting a feel of the taco since it’s my first truck I ever owned.

On a side note, I did look into parts for it and almost literally everything is on backorder. So I guess it helps in a sense to just enjoy the truck stock for now.

Ironman Foamcell 3" lift, ARB dual compressor, GoPro mount, BadElf mount, Drive grab handle, RCI skids, Victory sliders, half rack, TuffStuff Alpha ll RTT, Dometic 75 Fridge, extra USB & Outlets
I got my truck last Aug. I drove it and thought about what I wanted, ordered some stuff.
    1) clear bar in the front, sides coming later
    2) removed the Crome Tacoma & V6
    3) installed a bed rack and a RTT
    4) added some small stuff inside for my GoPro and BadElf and will add more electrical inside, plus a 31M battery or dual batteries.
    5) got an Ironman Foam Cell suspension, just a quick look and the rear shocks are about twice the size of the stock TRD OR
    6) ordered a front bumper center part for a winch
    7) 18,000 miles on the tires and they are around 60% worn, so new ones before camping starts. Plus the stock tires are more street and 4 plys. Had a 4ply tire blow on a forest road because a rock ripped the belts, no more 4ply for me.

This summer I will go and enjoy multiple weekends off road and driving the Pony Express trail with an extra week camping.

You need to do what you want and what fits your plans.

Stock tires are trash, but other than that the truck should get you 90% of the places you want to go in stock trim.

It took me a year to finally stop spending money on my Taco but after 3 months, I decided to make some changes and now i am back in the mods boat :annoyed:. I budgeted to buy one thing per month so it doesn't hit my bank account so bad. Keep in mind though the lead time of some stuff are long. It took me 3 - 4 months to get my suspension kits, roof rack is about 8 - 10 weeks, skid plates 4 - 6 weeks and etc. So you have to wait anyway. Good luck OP and enjoy the journey!:spending:
