Knowing animals are so much like us and "yes" I believe they have love for us...does it ever make you wonder if some dogs life can be so miserable they commit suicide? Just wondering....

You would have to ask yourself a bigger question; do dogs have a sense of mortality?

No, dogs and other animal's instinct is strictly to survive.

You're right.. I was thinking of animals in the wild, I've heard some crazy stories about what certain animals do to survive. I wasn't thinking about pets.

That's what made me ask the question on suicide....humans are animals to and our instinct coupled with our thought processes drive us to survivability but it made me wonder if in some small way they think like we do. Not all the time but maybe now and again thus the loneliness or the illness couldn't make them take their own life....just a thought

One day on my senior year of high school right before I left the house for school she was under my parents car. She was so small and scared, she wouldn't let us touch her.

I begged my parents to let me keep her, so they let me. She was a tiny little thing when we found her. So I named her "cosita" spanish for little thing...Let me tell you she has outgrown her name. :D But I love her.

She's my best friend, and now that I don't live at home with my parents she still does. She keeps my mom company, looks after her and the house.

    My best friend :) ...

    In her younger days

:) I love her to death.

I would like to get another dog but it would feel like "cheating" on my dog if you get what I mean. Since I only go home a few times a years and I don't have a dog where I'm at I would like to but like I said it would feel weird. What do you guys think?

^^ I got my first dog Oscar, when I still lived with my parents. I don't live there anymore, but he still does. It is all he has known, and he loves the pack (my parents have many dogs of their own). I have other dogs where I live now, so I know what you mean about leaving your dog behind. But, if you are a good owner, you could save the life of another dog at the pound. Think about it, and go take a look at some dogs at the pound. Maybe one will just click with you.

The pound? I'll give it a try, but I would really like a pup so that I can raise. maybe a german shephard or a lab. I have had those to on my mind but still debating. :/
