Yesterday I took my daughter to her doctor's appointment on Pittsburgh's North Side. Today it's off to visit with my mother. We are going to the cemetery to pay our respects to my father then will have lunch in Homestead. This will be the first time we have done this since March of last year.

Nice to hear people getting out. I have a cousin who owns a restaurant/bar in Homestead, its pretty neat it is steelmill themed. Bar is built from scrap steel , lights are custom made from scrap , pictures all over the place and good food. Home made perogies. Its called Dorothy 6, named after the blast furnace. Enjoy ur day.

I Googled it. Unfortunately, it doesn't open until 4 p.m. and it is on E. 8th Avenue, a few miles from where we normally eat. My father worked in Homestead, on W. 8th Avenue, at a now defunct steel mill for years. The men would eat at all the local establishments, usually getting something to go after their shift needed. Personally, I love pierogies and would patronize the restaurant. My mother, she still seems to have the idea that Homestead is rough - like it was years ago - and always wants to stay within the Waterfront for lunch. I was taught not to disrespect my mother, so the Waterfront is where we go.

I dont blame you at all Charlie. Do u remember chiodo's tavern? That was there for years. That was a fixture of Homestead for a long time , hell a bet the Pinkertons ate there.

Oh yeah. It was right at the end of the High Level Bridge, now the Homestead Grays' Bridge. I maybe ate there once. My dad ate there all the time. He worked the 3 -11 p.m. shift so he would bring their steak sandwich home for him and my mother to eat. By the time he got home it was always after midnight, although he wasn't one to go to the bar after his shift for a few drinks. Once in awhile he would do that. So we would be asleep. No sandwich for us! In truth, we didn't eat out much growing up. Back in the day, mothers cooked meals for the most part and going out to eat just wasn't within the budget, at least ours.

Nice. I miss having quad but with my current luck with injuries it is really good I don't ride anymore:oops:. Always wanted to get ahold of a 3 wheeler to restore, a Kawasaki Tecate 250 or Honda 250R would be awesome but they're hard to find and usually bring good money

    Good Morning PA Folks :hattip:.
Hope the eye appointment goes good Mark and everything is doing okay. Glad Duffy is feeling better after getting the antibiotic. It's nice that you are still active at the college. Is the commencement going to be in person or video on Zoom? It would be nice to get back to normal and have a real commencement. Either way, Have a great day and Be SAFE.

Have a good day with Mom Charlie. Enjoy your lunch and be safe.

Have a great day all and be safe out there.

This one will still be virtual, unfortunately. Hopefully, next year they will be back to normal. I'm participating this year because we will also be recognizing the 2020 grads so I'll make just a few - very few - comments. Lynn and I love to go to the student-run restaurant for dinners - other than that, I pretty much try to stay away. I was given President Emeritus status...but that's purely ceremonial. It's Jill's college to run now.

The biggest challenge will likely be to avoid the waste from the geese that over populate the cemetery where my father and other relatives are buried.:annoyed: Literally, you can't take a step without encountering it.

Reminds me of the Good old days when the bars were open as many hours as they could be by law nothing like coming off shift at 0700 to a nice beer .

While the Breakfast trade is having Eggs and Coffee.

It has been Years but there was a Bar outside Homesteads Main Gate I had breakfast many times after loading.

    I had a few interesting mishaps .

I was just more comfortable with Critters then people.

I’ve got a couple small boxes of extra parts that came with this one. The manual is in there somewhere.
I sold my 84’ Honda 200s 3wheeler when I bought this one 5-6 years ago. This is an 85’ and I only rode it once before I put it in storage.
