Chicken snakes are good, kills the vermin.

The poisonous snakes had me a little worried about falling on the ride in the tall grass.

We have a fair numbers of rattlers where I ride. Statistically speaking, you're most likely to get bit by being a dumbass and trying to pick it up by, like, a HUGE margin. Generally trail dogs are far more at risk than riders.

REALLY sorry to be pedantic but, it's venomous, not poisonous. Poison is ingested, venom is injected.

I know it's a bit more expensive, but I'm a fan of the patagonia iteration of the long sleeve shirts as well. The hoody is great to have in the desert.
No you don't. I grew up on the east coast and now live in Utah. The humidity is uncomfortable and gross, but at least you can still get out. You literally can't go outside in the summer in the southwest unless it's first thing in the morning or you're in a body of water.

    that's the same here though...

I've been out west, and can confirm that as long as I have a beverage, I'd much rather be in the dry heat. A beverage in the southeast doesn't replenish what you lose in sweat at all.

Learn something everyday. I know for snakes it’s venomous even though I didn’t use it that way. So someone can’t be poisoned by a shot, they can be venomed lol.

To each their own I suppose...

I used to get out hiking/biking/whatever all summer up and down the east coast. I wouldn't dare do that in the desert southwest and neither does anyone else. That said, I'd still rather be out here since we can always go to higher ground to play!

Edit: I will agree that dry heat is preferable at 90 degrees or less though.

Hmm, never thought about that. I think with a "poison dart" they are injecting poison from a poison frog or whatever. But since it's injected I'm not sure if it's poisoned or venomed

But at least when it comes to animals, that's the difference. You can eat a rattlesnake. And you can get bit by a Puffer Fish. But not the other way around

yeah I'm just not a fan of sweating if I'm not doing something to justify it, and I can't even exist around here without sweating.

Yep! I'm definitely a sweaty human and I don't miss needing to change my clothes when I got to work. The dry air is sooo nice for hanging out in the summertime.

    not enough.
Yeah. Our area only has rattlers to worry about. and it's VERY rare to even come across one. I heard one in corner canyon and I immediately booked it out of that part of the trail.

and then there's me, riding corner canyon when it's like 90 degrees out. and then going to PC during the weekends. lol.

EaMo is riddled with them. I probably come across one on an after work ride 1/4 times.

I even had my back tire bit by one once a few years go after I ran him over on a slow climb.

CC is a little different since it's got tree cover. And a nice summer day in PC is lovely. But riding STG any time after dawn is god awful.

*gasp* that's scary. But then again, during the summer, EaMo is not fun to ride in anyways.

True. Summer is NOT desert season. Right now is desert season. As is fall. lol.
