Same as i read on an exxon site sometime back. Toyota oil is formulated with a higher content of moly than other synthetics.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum...I'll never use another oil (unless something better comes along).

Reason being the life I got out of my 2011 Durango with the 3.6L Pentastar V6. Those early models are notorious for lifter failures and just being flat out noisy as they age. Mine had nearly 200k mi when I traded it in and the valve train was still whisper quiet from idle through the entire RPM range. Could not have asked for a smoother running engine.

I may have just gotten extremely lucky, but I run Pennzoil UP in all our vehicles now.

Did you get an Owner's Manual with the truck? If you did, then there is a wealth of information about which oil viscosity to use, the API and the change interval. If the oil you buy meets the API specification and the viscosity in the manual, then good to go.

Filters have varying degrees of "best". Be wary of some famous "orange" filters. Some of the better brands are Toyota, WIX, ACDelco, Bosch, NAPA Gold.

The special tools I use are METRIC.

Otherwise, a simple drain pan. These come in many different forms, use one that you like.

Air filters have different types, wet or dry. The wet (oiled) filters were developed for racing. These typically have higher air flow, but lower filter particulate efficiency. Allowing more dirt into the engine. There are hazards of over oiling the wet filter that will foul the MAF. Dry filters have a lower air flow, but plenty sufficient for the engine. Dry typically have better filter particulate efficiency, less dirt passes into the engine. No risk for fouling the MAF.

You want Boron. This stuff has the most. There's a Youtube video out there that shows this stuff in action. Very impressive. If I find it I'll post it up. And this stuff is not to be confused with the Archoil stuff which is actually compared to this in the video.

I use the Amazon Basic 0-20W with a 1/3rd of a bottle of the Arch stuff every other oil change, a regular funnel, and the Motiv filter drain and tool. Get a drain pan with a lip or something inward so when you pull it out form under the truck it doesn't splash out of the pan. I also have the metal filter housing which has come off by hand the last 2 oil changes.

What is the last picture—some sort of oil drain pan? If so, how does it work and where did you source it?

It's a 12qt low-profile (3.5" tall) oil drain pan. I need the high capacity because my Grandsport Corvette holds 10 qts of oil in the dry-sump system and the Corvette needs a less than 4"s tall drain pan to fit underneath as it's so low.
The yellow extension is nice for the tall Tacoma as it reduces oil splash/mess. It also stores oil and is easy transporting to waste disposal facility.

I got it from AutoZone and I believe it costs something like $15. Works GREATS for me.

That looks like it would work perfectly. I’ll have to get one of those for my BMW. I am still under included maintenance on my 2021 Tacoma and am not doing oil changes on it yet.

Do I need to remove the factory skid plate to oil pan drain plug?

Guy sounds like a real douche bag. I would not buy anything from him. He just copied a successful product, and calls his better.

Also ask him this, if Archoil is sooooo bad, why copy them? Why even mention such an inferior product? Just his demeanor tells me to stay away.
