I have a black 2021 SR5 DCLB, and am thinking that the tan might actually look the best. I don't want black b/c of the additional heat factor as mentioned.

anyone have pics of black truck, tan covers?

I have a 4X Innovations hi lift bracket in the bed rail and I can fold open and close the topper, there’s just enough room. You gotta make sure the hi lift is moved far enough forward to clear the topper frame when it folds.

Okay, so a while ago I said I was going to build a skirt out of matching material to the topper... Well, with zero skills and nearly no understanding of sewing, here's the progress so far...

The general design - super artistic, I know. The end design actually covers the whole tailgate to make sure there's no water that can get in.
    Outline.jpg

So then I decided to draft up a really professional design.
    draft.jpg

And yesterday I patterned it out and did the initial cut. This morning I did the adhesives to create good, strong edges. I'm getting ready to sew and add webbing loops for mounting, and add the rest of the velcro to interface with the existing softopper.
    Letsdoit.jpg

The lead ingots are for putting weight on the adhesives to ensure a good bond across the edges before sewing to get the final setup.

I have the tan. I chose it for both the looks on Barcelona Red and to better reflect the sunshine. I also added a layer of thermo-reflective bubble insulation between the canvas and the frame tubes in the ceiling. I left it long in the rear so it can also come down and shade the rear window when parked. It stays rolled up and out of the way when driving.
I'll have to get a better photo of the insulation itself, but maybe you can just see it at the top of the rear window in this photo:

Edit: Nope, can't see it. Didn't know until I posted it up. I'll try to snag a better one later...

Progress? It needs some refinement to take out a bit of slack, and I need to build the webbing tie downs to secure it all, but it's getting there.

I did the same thing. Do you find it's cooler in the summer in addition to warmer in the winter?

My tan is much cooler. But the insulation helps a ton.

What is the best method to secure the front flap? My understanding is that the supplied velcro is no bueno. Are most drilling in snap screws?

I drilled in 2 snap screws (didnt place the center 3rd snap screw) Only issue I have had is when I got a crazy hard cross wind exactly perfect the middle flipped inside the bed. I think that's only happened like once though. It was raining that drive so I just pulled over at the next exit and reached through the back window and pulled it back into place. Didn't have an issue after that. the two snaps are easy to reach when taking the topper off and on and I dont have to worry about reaching the center one.
