Come on...it's not like driving a manual. There you know it's your responsibility to change gears, and I can do it a hell of a lot faster than it takes this truck to go from D to S and then still decide to downshift to the lowest gear available.

Just had the 6.0 LT tune put on by HCFR TACO22. Vic was awesome to work with and I'd definitely recommend him to anyone in the Tampa region for the install.

For the tune, granted I've only put about 10 miles on it now I can say it's definitely more responsive. Time will tell if it's a good or bad as initially it's very twitchy in 2 places. From a dead stop it takes a very light foot to get moving without the jump and there is a definite spot to keep an eye on at neighborhood crusing speeds of 20-25 where it can't seem to decide if it wants to shift or not and it causes it to buck without input change on my part. I was holding my foot as steady as I could and around 1500 RPM at somewhere in the 23mph range it would drop RPM like a shift and then decide it wants to go back up to the 1500 range and start the buck again.

Vic suggested this may work itself out with the learning cycle but if not he said he'd be happy to come make it right. Love a vendor who stands behind their work.

So the review is to be continued after some wheel time...

Vic let me know, and yes it should improve over a few tanks with settling and learning. If not I will work on your specific situation to make it right.

I almost wish that 1st gear could be an exponential curve instead of linear. Not sure if that's even possible but I don't want to even request a tweak until I've got a few miles on there to see where it settles.

I highly recommend this to anybody who is on the fence about doing it. Driving the truck is a completely different experience in the best way possible.

I am experiencing the same thing, at slower speeds the rpms bounce between 1500 and 1800 rpm's. When I got home from the tune it started and I thought it was me. After being parked 4 days, noticed it again. I figure I'll wait a bit to see if it learns. Not complaining at all, @Taco_Fisher keep me in mind if you have it worked on and I will do the same. *UPDATE* 4/16 So after posting this, the truck was dropped off at Toyota for the fuel pump recall. When I picked it up, I purposely tried to make the symptoms happen again and a few times after that. I could not reproduce it. So either my foot got calibrated between dropping it off and picking it up or something related to the fuel pump did something. Bottom line I am extremely happy!

Nope, not just you. Wonder what's different.

I was just about to reach back out to Vic and/or PapaRee as honestly it's almost undrivable at slow speeds. I can't imagine that much would smooth on it's own. I just came home from picking my daughter up from school and even she was complaining that she was getting jerked around in the back seat.

Actually Vic just reached out to me. I think we're going to try a super light throttle tune and see if that evens it out. If not I may be looking for something less performance oriented and more just to smooth out the shift points.

First of all let me start off by saying I have never tuned any other vehicle other than my taco. As far as KDMAX LT completely have a brand new truck super amazing, unfortunately I am also experiencing slower speeds rpm bounce , usually between 1500-2000 , school zone are a nightmare at the moment :annoyed: 2 tanks in let’s see what happens

Haha I get it - give it some time to settle. Personally I love the LT. I did not like the regular throttle. If you're not happy after 400-500 miles, there is a new SLT (super light throttle) you can get retuned. I am actually retuning a guy to a lower throttle this weekend. Check with your installer

Vic is here doing the SLT tune now. We'll see if that clears it up.

Oh hell yeah this is better for me anyway. I can comfortably hold the sub-25mph range without the bucking and it still feels good down the road. It's also much more agreeable from a stop.

I'll be putting about 150 miles on Saturday morning so I'll get a good break in on the highway and report back but just with a quick around the block I am much happier with where it is now. Thank you both Vic and PapaRee for the support.
