The drug cartel's in Florida doesn't seem very interested in Tacoma's.

Here in SoCal the older Ford 3/4 tons are on thieves bucket lists. Had someone try to steal mine while I was on a 2day offshore fishing trip. Came back to a busted up ignition. Talked to the landing and it happens several times a year.

My next door neighbor just got his ford lightning stolen. I don't particularly like the trucks, but it's still a shame to lose yours like that.

If they want it then they'll take it. I got a triple lock system on my teardrop including a wheel boot lock.
Ain't nobody taking that thing without waking up the entire street trying to get it.

New truck is parked outside but under a light and I got a few neighbors with security cams. Losers around
here mostly riffle thru unlocked cars looking for spare change to fuel their glue-sniffing habits.

Plus there must be 10 TRD's in my little 'hood, all with those goofy key fobs. Happy my SR5 uses a real key.
I suspect if anyone wanted one of the 10 mine would be the last on the list.

Neighbor of mine years ago had a custom plate on his car that made sure nobody would take it.: [ STOLEN ]

No. No one gives a shit about a Honda Miata. Unless you’ve dumped the price of a Porsche into it instead of buying a Porsche.

Doesn't the SR/manual Tacoma's key also transmit radio frequency when you press the button to lock and unlock?

You can lock and unlock but with a keyless start they use the RF to start the car and drive off with it.

Full sized GMC trucks are what gets stolen most around here, along with older Hondas and Toyotas.

I been broadcasting my key code with a 1000W transmitter, and no one will steal my truck! Sheesh. How’s a fella gonna get a cheap insurance replacement?

    Vehicle:
    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
My mint ‘79 Westy VW Van got stollen when I had it for only two weeks. It was fully loaded and even had custom AC. I bought what was left of the body from insurance and rebuilt it but it was never the same, so sadly sold it to get a Toyota PU. That was a good idea as I wheel in the desert a lot, including summer, and need a more dependable car anyways.

VW’s are way too easy to steal. I shouldve kept it in a garage with a couple of guard dogs.

As for Toyota key fob RF hacking, just turn it off at night. Easy peasy, and it will stop anyone from hijacking the code from it. Just remember to turn it off when parked, after a little while it becomes a habit.

On the next video of this guy’s channel he has a much more brief video to watch about this. Commenter told him you just have to hold down the Lock button and press the Unlock twice. This will deactivate the fob’s RF.
