Thanks, ima look into those. I'm still green, so I'm taking notes on "local" trails. Still working on my stamina.

I'm in the High desert, Victorville. :tumbleweed:

Oh man, these heat/humidity/snake posts have me glad I live where I do. Just finished a 25 mile 2500’ climb, more than 50% singletrack door-to-door (no driving involved) with a great brewpub IPA and Cubano sandwich stop in the ride home. Ambient conditions (and sunny with ocean views and lots of wildflowers):330AECEC-A5B0-477F-AC72-BCF67EE048D1.jpg

we have a sweet paved path for road bikes providence to Bristol. Along the way there’s an ice cream shop and a clam shack. There used to be a sweet bar at the end but that got sold off it’s more up scale now. That’s a nice ride too it’s along the coast.

Road bike though - none of it is dirt :( I really do like that but I sold off the road bike now I just ride in woods behind an industrial park because this is Rhode Island and that’s the extent of our woods.

Of course, it’s not all perfect here in Santa Cruz. We have this in full bloom and crowding the trails. Full Tecnu scrub when I got home. 920E41B8-80C7-4C90-8192-1006E0F52281.jpg

Is that the poison oak I’ve hearing so much about since I moved out here? Never know what to look out for haha. I did have an itchy outbreak of something a couple weeks ago

Maybe sumac has a higher urushoil content? I don't really get bothered by poison ivy but I got absolutely wrecked by sumac one time. Was a long time ago though, I was little, may be different now.

Maybe so. I can touch/pull ivy and oak and don’t have any issues, got some out of the yard the other day. I used to do lawn care though and any time I got into sumac I got wreckedddd. It’s been a good 10 years, but I haven’t risked it since haha.

Clean up afterwards - use dawn/other dish soap and do a few passes with it. Treat it like bearing grease that sticks on, scrub the piss out of it. I can pull it all day long and then as long as I clean up afterward with dish soap, I'm fine.

Might have to do with sumac as a bush instead of vines :notsure: or you just recognized a different plant as poison icy/oak  but yeah they're all the same oil.
