1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Alright cool, my new company has 2 of those husky ones and they've been okay for 4 years of heavy use. Only one drawer has broken slides

They said they'd buy me one to use but whenever I move I'll need my own.. I guess I'll just wait until I make it to the east coast for that, a toolbox is a big item to try and move cross country lol

 

Often stolen item too when using large moving companies. They "loose" things like that all the time.

 

They're not too bad if you have a ramp. I rolled my dewalt/craftsman abomination into and out of a penske truck without too much hassle. Just strap it to the wall and away you go.

When I moved out west over a decade ago the moving company held my stuff hostage until I paid them an extra 1200 they didn't lose anything at least.

I intended on packing a box truck when the wife and I move to try and avoid any shady business

 

what's your timeline? I have at least one Snap On and/or Homak box(es) from the 80s in storage in Edmonds that I need to deal with this summer. Haven't decided if I'm gonna sell em or drag them back here

It'll be a minimum of 2 yrs here in WA before we leave, need time to set up a shop on the east coast for me to move into.

If you do decide to sell it, I'd love to buy it off ya.. do you know what size it is?

 

OTOH, 36-40" size. I haven't been out there in years but I guess the extended family decided that everything needs to be sorted this summer

 

have a bunch of other shit too unless the cousins have been stealing it. tire machines, radial arm saws, table saws, band saw. Most of it's probably not worth more than $50 per item, though. Was thinking I'd have a big yard sale and try and move as much of it as I can

I've heard some horror stories from moving companies recently.

Initial cost - $2k from IL to CA for my SO's friend; now she's upwards of almost $5k total.

Held her stuff hostage the same way, just not sure of the entire story.

I think the company toolbox I have filled up now is only 28" so a 36" would be a vast improvement.

 

Even if they're smaller/lesser expensive items, hope that isn't the case for you.

When I got out of the military, I left a lot of stuff in my moms attic (house in CA) as I moved out to IL.

I get back, and really thought I had "lost" a lot of stuff during my move back and forth.

Years later, my sister's boyfriend fessed up about stuff they had taken and sold to the local pawn shop and shit.

He at least offered me cash right then and there for it, whereas my sister remained in denial about it.

 

axle roommate moved to seattle and the movers lost his stuff for 1 week and counting. After dealing with him I'm sure the mover's notes said "make sure this guy's shit is never found"

 

Dang, I feel less bad about all the extra work from renting a truck.

 

Wow that's fucked! In my case they quoted a price based off total Sq ft of all my boxes and then said I had to pay more because of how much heavier everything was compared to what they assumed

As shitty as it is to lose your stuff, whatever it may be, that guy was overall an inconsiderate asshole.
