Terrible ride on a 2021 Limited

Maybe Trade or sell it ? There’s no point in continuing payments if you’re not satisfied. . Life is short. Or keep looking for trd off-road suspension take offs and trd pro wheels and tires. Off-road ride is cushy which I like.

 

Put some weight in the bed and it will ride like a Cadillac

 

Thanks, Justin. I was thinking the same. Got Bilsteins on my '07 Tundra with the same size and model tires and feel absolutely 0 road bumps.

 

Will body roll increase that much? I think the OR has a thinner sway bars than some of the other trims, maybe the limited too?

 

I have a stock 19 Sport 4X4 with 265/70/17 Wildpeaks and my truck rides great IMO. I bought a set of OR Bilsteins with 50 miles on them and need to install them one of these days.

But like some mentioned the bigger wheel and tire package may be the culprit of your problem. If you can try to find a set of OR or Sport wheels with taller sidewall tires.

 

Not sure about the sway bar on the Limited. The Limiteds I’ve driven all handled decently and I actually thought the ride was pretty good too. The Off Road that I had felt overly soft. It had noticeable body roll in corners, but the nose dive when braking was the biggest issue I had with it. I would have changed the suspension if I had kept the truck.

 

Everyone has their own ideas on suspension. I hate floaty, wallowed, roly-poly, seasick, sofa suspension. If I wanted to ride like a 70's clapped out K-car, I'd buy a 70's clapped out k-car, or maybe a new Tundra. But thats why I bought a Tacoma sport, because they are pretty much the opposite of that.

 

The Tacoma LTD is the biggest fraud perpetrated by Toyota on Tacoma owners since the "high quality steel" beds of the 80's Hilux! As the second most expensive Tacoma it's nothing but an overpriced SR5 with leather and JBL. For a little more $$ you could've bought a PRO and had that nice ride you're looking for (and alot of other options).

Don't shoot the messenger man, I own both they are night & day.

 

I drove a Limited and thought I wasn't getting a Tacoma. Then I drove an OR and bought it.

I got a 2018 Sport and I have had no less than 5 compliments on the good SUV like ride. True story

 

When I bought my 2016 it had aftermarket 18” wheels and tires. They were miserable. Once I stepped down to a 17” wheel with a larger tire the ride improved tremendously.

 

It’s a truck you will get used to it . Or you can swap out the suspension to a off road one if you think the ride is stiff . Even with the off-road suspension it’s not the greatest .

Someone said it earlier that its a truck. I agree that the ride is not as good. Ive had a S10, Ranger Splash and a 70 F100 which all rode better than My 17 Tacoma. I still wont part with it.

 

Imo, nothing short of a miracle will happen by just replacing the shocks. I had KYB's on my sr5 tundra and it rode plush. I rode in a similar trd tundra that was equipped with the the bilstein's...not a whole lot of difference. Tundras just ride way more compliant to begin with. Tacoma's have different spring rates, and width wheelbase's designed to be a more serious off-road truck.

 

I traded out of a '17 F250 4x4, which I liked very much, but it was such a pain to park (I literally got stuck in a parking lot once until someone next to me came out and left) and I had no real use for the capabilities of a Super Duty. When the used market got so hot, I sold the SD and bought a lightly used '20 TRD OR 4x4. I don't mind the ride. As some have noted, the OR suspension is a bit "floaty" but the truck is a perfectly acceptable DD. I do miss the immense interior room of the SD. I'm actually considering ordering a '22 SD and passing the Taco down to my son. Nothing against the Taco, and I may change my mind and keep it, I just miss the interior space and the V8 power and sound. If they would put the 4.6 V8 in a LB TRD Taco, I would trade-out tomorrow. It truly is all about personal preference.

 

What I really want to know is how you spent $46k on a vehicle without driving it first. If the ride is really as egregious to you as you say how did you not notice it during a test drive?

 

Definetly look for some TRD Off Road take-offs

• Bilstein coilovers & shocks (softer ride)
• TRD Off Road Wheels and tires (larger sidewall to absorb more)

You can find these pars for relatively cheap--boom, you have a cheap TRD Pro
EDIT: Not really . . . just luxurious and off road-ready

 

what we dont know is: is there something wrong with the truck that makes it so stiff, or is the OP just not realizing that it rides like a truck, because its a truck? My 19 Limited rides a little stiff, but damn it, its a truck and it feels right.
