Anyone have any knowledge of blasting / explosives?

Detecting this morning in an area which has had logging and gold mining (placer mining) in its history and found this. It's about 13" long, and 3/16 square, and marked "Fuse-Well No. 11". I assume it relates to blasting, but I have no idea, and Mr. Google is not being very helpful today. Doesn't actually matter, just curious. Thought it was a length of key stock when I first pulled it up.

And it’s square steel? Can’t figure it out either, one of the gold mining museums may help- Mariposa has one and so does Randsburg.

Square ferrous metal of some sort. Also suggested, possibly a fusible link for electrical use?

Oops, it’s Mariposa that has the State mining museum, Jamestown is the train museum- and the little museum in Randsburg has volunteers who know mining too.

I plan on being on the sand by 6:30am.

Dry sand hunting is my plan for tomorrow. I'll post whatever I find.

I was gonna wait until Saturday morning because I gotta tow my truck tomorrow... long story... but yeah, tomorrow is gonna be really busy for me.

Anyways, I can hardly wait. So damn busy with work.

I LOVE looking at HUGE ships!!! Just before I hit the sand I saw these guys coming into the Port of Long Beach. I wish I had my better camera. They were out pretty far. This guy has a "full deck".:laugh::rofl: It says "Evergreen" on the side if I'm not mistaken? :notsure:
    IMG_20210416_072302666.jpg

I think this guy is a "tanker"? :notsure:
    IMG_20210416_072310110.jpg

DEFINITELY not what I was wanting. Found the quarter almost instantly and then "skunked" until towards the end as that is when I found the two dimes and the penny towards the end of my hunt. I like hitting the tire tracks left by the patrolling life guard trucks as I tend to find change along the tire tracks.
    IMG_20210418_080806660.jpg

    1x 1967 Quarter (my luck it's not a '64 or older) :mad::annoyed::frusty::facepalm:

    2x dimes 2018, 2004

    1x 1977 Mem

The pop tops were KIND OF "jumping" with the signal return and I just ended up retrieving them just in case they were quarters or ???

The bottle was coming back as a possible quarter so I just retrieved it anyways and actually glad I did because I kept the Vodka bottle just because it looks cool to me. :notsure::laughing::laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I plan on hitting the sand next weekend about a mile or two south from this location. I SHOULD have better finds (i.e. more $$$) due to higher traffic. I just like coming to this location for some reason? During summer, I typically find around $3 in mixed change, on average with a 3hr hunt. So roughly $1/hr would be the average. All I can think of is, "Jesus H people, don't need the change I guess... ???":cookiemonster:

Finally, I was searching along the "cuts" and I just never have any luck with cuts. Plus, there was some "black sand" here and there so I just went back up to the "dry sand".

    But yeah, next weekend...

Yes, it says Evergreen, they're a major player in the trans-oceanic container shipping game. The second ship isn't a tanker; there's no evidence of "plumbing" on the foredeck, and the house is set well forward of the stern. I think this is actually something pretty unusual (seriously!); a container ship at sea with no deck containers.

I definitely had fun for sure!!!:fistbump:

HAHAHA, my arm, both of them, were starting to kill me after almost 2.5hrs of straight swinging.:laugh::rofl:

Ehhh, sorry, but respectfully, that's incorrect. 35 years at sea, I've seen a ship or two (million) through binoculars with exactly that level of detail & distortion. If you look at the house, it's vertical on both the fore and aft faces, and there's a little step right at the stern with just enough space between that and the after face of the house for two or three rows of TEUs. If it was a liquid carrier, the plumbing would be visible, and the house would be set farther back to allow for maximum liquid cargo forward of the plant.
