have a double cab 2004 that I use as my daily driver... i may at some point take it out on the trail or mud or just rough roads but nothing extreme... i want to get a little bit of lift and bigger tires (not to big to affect my GAS mileage to much).... What do you all recommend? I am thinking of a toyotec lift: or mabye a Bilstein 5100: http://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-1...acoma-pre-runner-4wd-pre-load-adjustable.html

What do you all think if it is my daily driver? I live in the DFW area and at some point want to add bigger tires outside of what I have 265...on stock rims... Plan on getting some matte black rims in the 2011 spring time... Any recommendations on that with some MT tires.... I have some BF AT tire right now and don't know what would be the difference in ride/comfort if it's a daily driver...

Thanks for all your input.. I know I can search (as I have but can't seem to find a concise summary post).....

lifting and bigger tires will affect your mpg's. mine is my dd as well and as much as i off road, i cant justify lifting the truck. i am going to level it with the 5100's whenever i get around to putting them on. as far as a bigger tire, you can run a 32 inch tire stock, with very minor rubbing. bigger tire means more weight, which hurts mpg's a little too. hope this helps

thanks moto932....tYeah that is what I was afraid of too. Maybe leveling is what I should go for. Would 5100 or 5125 be best for a DD?? I was planning on 5100 but have heard conflicting opinions... DownSouthMotorSports has a good set :)

what do you all think between BF, Toyo and Procomp MT? 32 on a stock lift (maybe if I get the 5100 Bilstein?).

i say billy 5100's with either 5100's or 5150's in the rear depending on whatchya want, a progressive aal if your not getting new springs and some 265/75/16 duratracs if you stay with 16 inch rims or some 32/11.5/15 if you decide on new rims

I installed 881's and 5100's, @ 0.. all the way around and no noticeable decrease in mpg, stock tires.

My truck with adj.5100 in the middle setting, rear has stock leaves with 5125 shocks.
If it is going to be a daily driver don't go with anything larger than 265/75/16.unless you re-gear.
I'm still getting 18 mpg with this set up.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I would just go with 5100s all around the 5125s are for 3" lifts or more. Your going to lose 'MPGs with bigger tires so I would stay with a smaller tire like a 32"

Well I don't know about that I have 33x12.5s and I only have a little power loss going up hill and I'm getting 16 to 17 MPGs on the HW.

I just leveled mine with the Bilstein 5100's. Love the look. I have 265/75r16's. My theory was that I could level it and if a few years down the road I want a bigger lift, I could jack up the 5100's higher and put in an AAL. Here are before and after pics based on stock tires w/o level and 265's with level.

I have ran 32 and 33 on my truck and could tell a huge difference between the two..I also have 33's on my 4-runner and it is a pig.
Do you ever pull a trailer with your truck..?

Will probably go 5100. Anything else needed if I get them? Plan on doing this in a week or two in the garage... Will go with 32 tires in the spring after my current BF AT wear out....

Nothing else needed. That's the beauty of it. Just have to have a spring compressor for the install.

do you have a spring compressor if you are planning on doing this yourself?

I don't but I was gonna check the local autozone to see if they rent them or can let me borrow one... I wouldn't think it would be to complicated...I guess, thoughts?

i think they have them to rent. i dont think it would be very complicated. i might rent one or take them a shop to have them swap out the coils for a few extra bucks.

I rented a spring compressor from auto zone. It's a lot easier to use with an air impact wrench.

I ended up taking mine to a shop. Just a point of reference, I found out the hard way there's not much savings from you taking the shocks off the truck and taking them to a shop to swap the coils verses just taking the truck to the shop and letting them do it all. I found it only save about $40. When you figure the time running around and actually doing your part of the work, it's not worth it. Found that out when I was doing the shocks on my car a couple years ago.

^ I was only chaged $35 to have the shop swap shocks when I brought them the coilovers. They said if they had been on the truck they woulda charged close to $100. So I suppose it depends who you deal with. For me, even $40 difference would be worth it!

ok. just talked to DSMS and they said to go with 5100 up front and 5125 on rear... plus to order bushing for front from toyotec... I guess that is my plan.

What setting should i put the Belsteins 5100 upfront? Stock, 1" or 2.5". I got the 5125 for the rear and plan on taking it in to a local shop to get them installed. I want to level it to matchup with how the rear will look...

    Thanks for the advice all....
