    Mine does this sometimes too. It also did it before it was super charged, and on my 2009 stock tacoma also in certain conditions.

    It's seems like the concensus is ratiotek works.

    Everyone still happy with the ratiotek kit?

    Since this requires drilling to the valve body, if I installed then later decide I'd like to send it to ipt for a vb modification, can I do that or am I locked into the ratiotek mod?

    Thanks in advance for the help.

    So is this any better or worse than the IPT?

    Unsure about ipt, but I installed the ratiotek last weekend. It's impressive how it feels now. I was hesitant to do it because it's a few springs and two drill bits. I was definitely a skeptic. Be careful with the existing springs. The one that falls out when removing the valve box had me on the ground searching for an hour. Think it's the cooler check valve spring.

    It's not needed, but I decided to disassemble the entire valve body, inspect, clean, etc. Lord there are a lot of parts in there. 20200823_185244.jpg

    You will not have to do all this. Installing the ratiotek kit is relatively easy. More intimidating than difficult. Just keep everything real clean. I used microfiber and lots of air. I was so suprised of the condition of it all. I have 200k and it looked new.

    Double check your ATF level after driving, I had to top mine off a couple times.

    @nudavinci64 or anyone else
    Re:the ratiotek. Is this accelerating from a dead stop? I noticed it will jump 1 to 3k rpm before it catches.... violently. This is with solid/poly mounts so it feels like the trans might take off by itself. This is only if I try to give it too much skinny pedal. I let off cuz I'm a little B... not sure if that's what others are experiencing. I can drive without trying to mash it so we're alright there if this is common among other ratiotek users.

    Also manual said to replace about 4.5 quarts if dropping the valve body. I did about 4.25 and it was dripping. Added .25 and it was smoothly flowing to a trickle.

    The more gas I give it the smoother it is but it def shifts really hard which you have to get used to. It shouldn't skip through but hard to tell since you let off but especially in lower gears, it seems pretty violent. the guys noted it was like that when we were debating solid mounts folks were debating even bothering with the trans as it would be even more violent. When I mass on the pedal and it revs fast it switches gears like a champ. It does not like to creep at a regular driving pace.

    Also, I added way more than 4.5 more like 9 or 10 qts with a full drain and valve body, pan. When you added oil did you do it while it was running. That is key to the fill. If you do it while not running then it has not circulated the fluid. You could have low trans fluid. Make sure also that you have it in temp mode When you check and all that good stuff.

    ^ this. I bet you're low on fluid. Get into trans temp check mode with the truck running and try to top it off again

    @nudavinci64 @mightytacoman y'all were right. I bottled about 7 quarts from my discarded oil and at least half a quart touched ground, making it about 8 quarts. It didn't look like that much. So after I only did 6.5 quarts, it could have used more :facepalm:

    I knew the pan was about 3 quarts. But now I see that the pan holds more and what's in the trans. I drained it all out this evening and picked up some 3 jugs of Maxlife. Got too late to idle the car for long so tomorrow it is. Thanks for all the advice dudes

    Nice that’s what it sounded like. Make sure you have it in temp mode when you fill and the truck on while you fill or it won’t be accurate.

    All is right in the world. You guys were right. Filled it up when it was on a cold start. By the time it was hot, it puked some and topped it off again. Couldn't get my light to a/t light to trigger though.
