Wife is gone to get our taxes, son and daughter are out digging worms. Cole and I are going fishing as soon as mom gets back. I’ll take Sadie another day.

We’ve welded these drill bushings in before, but this time they’re a little more critical, so I have them adding larger welds. We finally figured it out, I told them to MIG them and deal with the BB’s in the tapped holes nearby, the cooler weld seems to have helped.
I told them to just use JB Weld.

It's a rather large target. Prolly even larger in TEXAS.

    "Askhole" -- perfect!

Working in factories the worst jobs for getting advice was anything requiring a piece of wood -- almost everybody at one time or another built a bird house, fixed a kitchen drawer, repaired a door, etc.. This makes every passerby from the President to the Custodian feel completely qualified to help you with things like:

    what I usually do...
    have you thought about...
    why didn't you...
    aren't you going to...
    :annoyed:
Walk along with rubber gloves, plunger and drain snake and see how many people want to help you now.:mad:

I've often wondered how strain isn't more of an issue with metal welding. And connecting pieces of glass with different expansion rates is very tricky. We buy tubing that is graded from one material to another over 3 or 4 steps (like various liquids separated by buoyancy in a cylinder) and they are still very temperamental.

Does anybody use ovens or kilns to remove the strain from worked metal?

Had to get a little creative to hold 4 parts in two vises this morning. Have about 900 of these little guys and I didn’t want to change parts as much.
