I would compare that shot to a chopper hit on the infield... the fielder has to decide to attack and catch before the next bounce or back up and react to the bounce. Goalies don't have the luxury of backing up. I would assume on that play maybe the goalie lost track of the puck in the air otherwise he should have come out of the crease and grabbed it... at least in hinsight that seems like the right move

EDIT: Actually looking at it again I don't think he lost track.... I thought the puck went much higher. That was just a shitty bounce

Yes, before the bounce is best always but for some reason he chose not to attack it.

 

Carter's playing a physical game, at least so far after 2 periods. I don't know if it's first game adrenaline or this is his typical style.

 

I didn't see the first bit of the game but he looked good in 2nd and 3rd. I think he's going to be great here. He fits a need and is a different player than we have. Nice to have the skill, decent speed for his size.

I'm really glad to see Murray has been playing well, since returning. It's amazing what your goalie can do when the team is actually engaged in the game and not scrambling everywhere. I think Ottawa has a chance to be decent, but they have to be discipline. And if they can play that way, Murray will be just fine.

 

it has been tough to motivate my self to watch any of the games in the past 2 months...
