Look up the part numbers of the accessories you're interested in and find the installation instructions. Read through them and see what tools and parts you may need separately (rivet gun, butt connectors, etc). For instance, I have the Southeast Toyota LED illumination kit installed. It requires drilling, rivets, and splicing electrical to install. If something requires more than you're willing to purchase or find out how to use, then just have the port install it.

The ONLY one on that list that might be worth it is having them install the remote tailgate lock. It's not difficult, but you could easily burn an hour and a half of your time. The rest take under a half hour, so I wouldn't waste the money on those.

hahaha we should quote all of our time in steak searing. So I'm guessing the plugs are all wired up, just plug it in? Thanks for your replies everyone! lot's of helpful info here. I haven't looked into "aftermarket OEM" too much but it sounds like there are some good deals to be had there. Are you guys talking true OEM or are they aftermarket? I've had some bad luck on low quality aftermarket stuff that was claimed to be OEM.

    Drop steaks on,

pop open a good strong IPA like coronado bay weekend vibes (its only monday).

Drop tail gate, remove 2 bolts and let taillight hang.

Pop covers for bed light off and pop in light with harness connected.

Remove connector cap that is secured to the body and connect light.

reinstall tail light and finish beer.

    Flip steaks

Repeat process with new beer and opposite side.

Pull steaks off ensuring they are a nice medium rare 133 degrees (will hit 135 while resting)

You lost me at IPA. If I wanted to eat hops, I'd eat hops.

I find it's cheaper to lick the underside of my lawnmower deck to get that full IPA flavor

Except IPA's aren't beer flavored. They should be labeled "hops juice" or "grass clippings" not beer.

You will never convince me that anyone actually enjoys the taste of an IPA. They drink it because that's what the "cool kids" drink....ya know, the smelly barista wearing a scarf on a 95* day in July.

All of mine were actual Toyota parts. (That doesn't include things like the Leer camper shell, the Total Chaos bed stiffeners, etc. And of course the driver's side grab handle from KTJO4x4. That is, things that are not offered by Toyota.)

hahaha everyone is entitled to their opinion... But I do like IPAs, both the piney bitter ones and Juicy/Hazy bois. If you don't like IPAs, try a really juicy one with low IBUs, you'll be surprised I think.

Excellent. I'll have to do some more research then. Thanks! Any good OEM parts websites? I can peruse the forums as well. This is going to be my first Tacoma, coming from a golf so there are a few good VW OEM parts websites.

IMHO, I would have the dealership install the mud guards and the tailgate lock. They do the mud guards all the time - just seems easier to have them do it. The tailgate lock isn't a tough install but will require you to run and secure the wiring under the bed, put it through a rubber grommet in the passenger rear seat area and plug into an existing receptacle - having it run by the dealer for the $169 price is smart money to me.

The bed light is plug and play - easy - and you can always swap out the emblems or black them out later. That an easy thing to do. You can find the lighting kit at a discount price online. Emblems too.

You will definitely want a bed mat - buy it online and put it in the back. You can find deals on them quite often.

And, welcome to Team Army Green!

I used McGeorge Toyota (Richmond, VA) and Jim Coleman Toyota (Bethesda, MD). They both do mail order as well as in-person pickup.

Thankfully the new bed lighting kit for 2020+ is extremely easy plug and play. If I can do it, anyone can... lol

Sport pedals,, Magnaflow cat back exhaust system,Kuhmo 275x55x20, Platinum #220 Abyss wheels 20x9.5. Under hood lights, OEM LED cargo bed lights, extra D-rings installed in bed, AC mod, diff. breather mod, OEM LED puddle lights and footwell lights, Homelink mirror, oil catch can, raptor grille lights, replaced chrome grille molding with black molding, tailgate lock/unlock and tailgate opener, console organizer, glove compartment organizer, Caliraised stealth LED light bar, TRD Cold Air Intake, Lighted cup holders, Meso extended fuse cover, Meso stage 1 tail lights, Meso switch panel, Door bowl lights. Anytime front and rear backup camera mod. TRD Pro Rigid fog lights.Door edge guards. TRD Pro shift knob with Boomer's TRD LED light (Red for security, blue for interior), Glass Break Sensor, sensor with LED light tied into the security LED light, OEM LED Headlights, Sequential LED Turn Signals.
I would have them install the illumination package. That gives you interior footwell lighting and underneath courtesy lighting. This is time consuming if you would do it yourself. Everything else you mentioned is plug and play and a no brainer.

I can't get another vehicle without it, it's probably the best accessory offered (IMO).

One thing to note about the bed mat is that it is heavy. Shipping charges are going to be high.

Interesting. I didn't see that on the Toyota build site or I might have ordered it. Is the wiring there?
