That one is a 4440, we also have a 4620 but I'm dealing with a fuel pump issue on that one. I need to get it sorted soon because we use it to run an irrigation pump for a big Christmas tree field

Did the 4440’s have the quad range trans?

I was trying to talk myself into a Wright stander -- big dollars but cool and efficient. Got distracted and bought the Tacoma instead.

I don't drive the truck in the winter so the usage is about equal to a mower too.

Yeah...first dealer said it needed a new trans and wouldn't even try to get it done under warranty bc it was a month out. I took it somewhere else and they found that there was scoring to the pressure plate that could've only been a result of a manufacturing defect. They got it replaced under warranty. The whole thing took about 3 months. Luckily it happened during the winter, or else I would've had to buy another tractor within a week or so.

The dealer service writer said they never work on these transmissions. It's still slow but pulls very hard now. Overall, I'm glad I got this one fixed but when it is time for a new one, I will be cutting a fat check to Kubota so I hopefully never have to deal with QC issues again.

Sounds like the swashplate was scored. That would be a Hydro-Gear malfunction. MTD/Cub buys the hydros and installs them on the rear differentials as a unit. Sounds like an unusual occurrence.

Sounds like it. What a pain in the ass though. I got involved with Cub while it was at the first dealer when they took 6 weeks to diagnose it and really couldn't tell me anything other than "new transmission." At the next place they had it fixed in several days, but according to Cub there was a disagreement between the dealer and Cub about how many hours of labor the job was worth, so I had to get involved with Cub again and put pressure on the service dept through the sales dept and offered to pay the difference. The dealer just kept saying that Cub was not communicating with them about anything at all, not specifically about the labor hours. Before they addressed my offer they called one day and said everything was good and Cub credited them. What a nightmare though.

What a find! I'm sure you know this better than me but that 3406 paired with the 13 speed is a sweet combo.

How can this rig only have 25k on it? Was it only used for 2 months then parked since?

    I'm skeptical.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm glad to hear they warrantied it even though it was out of warranty. Congrats on getting it fixed. Sorry it was a PITA.
