Correct that you can't iron patches to directly to velcro.
Don't use fabric glue because it will melt when it gets hot enough in the cab of your truck. Don't want patches with hot melting glue raining down on your head while you're driving!

Super glue is the way to go. It's very permanent and works great to stick the adhesive backed hook (velcro is just the brand, you can get cheaper stuff on Amazon) to the iron on material on the back of embroidered patches.

Note: You have to be careful you don't use too much glue because it will squish out the sides and make a mess on the edge of your patch. I usually press the patch for an hour to two under books as well to make sure it's flat. Maybe practice on one or two patches you don't really care about first.

I've got more than a couple patches I've "modded" on the headliner of my truck that have survived several years of Arizona Summers without failing. Only the ones I never glued actually had issues which I fixed but adding the glue later.

Ok, so you caught my attention with this post. I recently purchased a small backpack at a thrift store and would like to cover up the logo that was embroidered onto it. Would superglue hold on this type of material do you think? Just not really in the mood to try hand sewing a hook backing onto this. Was thinking a black flag patch would be a bit less controversial. Don’t really want to get in to a debate about the existing logo on the pack, just prefer not to upset anyone in the woods while hunting is all.

edit: another option would be to just cover it with some black duck tape, but I figured a patch would look better.

It looks like the logo is embroidered. If so a velcro backed patch may stick right on to it with a little push and wiggle. That's how I get patches to stick on my 3rd gen headliner.

That would be a Patchover. Usually a beat down is involved first.

You bet superglue will work to attach to that...!

I have a Dakine backpack that didn't have enough loop material on it (the fuzzy stuff that you stick patches too with the hook/velcro on them) so I used some straight up super glue and made my own "patch bag", with multiple panels on it. I've used it as my EDC bag on the regular to/from work as well as camping and my personal carry on item when flying. I wanted something less "tactical" with more color and it works great. No sewing involved at all.

I'd actually just suggest doing the same: Get some of the adhesive backed velcro (usually comes with hook and loop separately) and cut a 4-5" piece to glue on top of that part of the bag and it can be anything you want with the variety of patches out there. Shoot, you can even rock a meme cat or EVH tribute on it... (hint-hint)

I really like the bag though and for $5, I would rather just keep it than go searching for something similar.
I would be afraid of the patch falling off, but I appreciate the thought.

I appreciate the information. I will give it a try and see how it turns out.
    Thank You
