Cape Cod it does not get much worse unless one goes the long way around .

I don`t miss going up there at all.

What kind of car ?? Why enclosed trailer ?

I have hauled many expensive things blanket wrapped and tarped

Uship would no doubt be cheaper then renting something yourself correct?

I PM'd a member about how to get there without traffic. He was saying to try and take I84 in Massachusetts then drop down to hit I95. Looks like we will be driving up on a Sunday so I'm hoping for low traffic . The 2 map apps say take I95 across the Hudson or I've seen bad traffic then it reverts to I287 to I95. As long as the traffic moves im ok, its when it stops I think I stop breathing. What do u think about I287 on a Sunday?
The car is a 67 Camaro , restored a few years ago , never been in the rain so thats why an enclosed trailer.
Uship estimates around 900 to 1100, for me to rent something enclosed might cost 600 -800?

I just mapped out going I84 across the Hudson then hitting I495S then into cape cod. Its only 10 minute more. That seems like a good idea to beat some traffic. Thoughts ? Opinions, all welcomed.

There is no good way to get there.

Myself I keep as far from NYC as possible Connecticut sucks as well unless you know your around

I have been known to run North and Pick Up The Mass Pike East of Albany Ny

You would not want to go across the GW Interstate 95 ever The Cross Bronx Expressway .Maybe 2400 to 0400 you might sneak through.

Coming from the Berg my Choice would be get up to I 80 go east to I 81 North to I 84 east follow east through NY state Conn to the Mass pike to I 495 south to where you need to go.

Off I 84 in Conn. there are several ways you can work over to Cape Cod.

I have no idea how you like to drive any place at any time traffic can and will stop .

Real Good idea fluids and snacks .

Things change all the time maybe reach out to some of the local forums .

Best of Luck in your adventure.

I drive 10 minutes out of my way to keep moving every day on commute home. It’s a great idea in my opinion

Don't know how some of you guys drive in cities. My first experience with Brooklyn was in a 26ft Penskee truck. The only way to the place I was going was right through the center. Holy shit what an experience! The air horn got plenty of use and I had to use the brute size of the truck to push my way through.

Being a truck driver and knowing the cost of tolls, fuel, etc... and mainly time $900-1,100 is a great deal. Look into Reliable or other car transporters but that price range for an enclosed transport is good. If you rent an enclosed trailer for $600-800 you'll still be way over the transport fee after fuel, tolls, food, etc... plus time. I drive up to Warwick, RI years ago for one of my old show trucks, rented a uhaul trailer and took a road trip. I like road trips though, from the looks of it you're not going to enjoy any bit of driving in the northeast, especially with an enclosed trailer on back. Just my opinion.

I drove OTR for years (mainly Hazmat) and mainly the northeast and east coast because it paid more. I feel more comfortable driving tractor trailer in cities and and confined areas than wide open highway, too many people get complacent out in the Midwest and don't pay attention. Chicago, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, New York City, Long Island, Boston, everywhere in New Jersey and any other major cities in the northeast were my main places I drove in.

Well, it wasn’t great weather for long. The clouds came in and the wind picked up and I got a little damp the last 2 miles of my ride.

What the map app is saying is 22E to 99N to 80E to 81N to 84E then little bit onto 90E then onto 495 S right into Cape Cod.

Honestly it all depends on what ti.e of day or night you're traveling thru the northeast corridor for traffic, construction, etc... as well as what day/ days if you're doing a two day trip. I would do one day straight shot trip but I'm conditioned for that. 22-99-80-84 north around the 95 corridor is best.

That sounds about right, this route will keep you away from the 95 corridor. What time of day/night and what days are you doing?

I'd suck it up and go straight up 95 through NYC then across RI to the cape.

Traffic on 95 is consistently bad, but it's very consistent. Traffic on all the other routes is bad, but very variable and your odds of actually getting there sooner are pretty small.
