Has anyone put colored bolts on their RCI skids? I was considering adding the slightest bit of bling to my rig that way. If you know of a site that has them please post the URL. skid plate received today

No, but you made me remember something funny as I soooooo patiently wait for my skids.....:playball:

Consider this once you find your answer and torque away:

We do not offer a specified torque spec rating due to the sliders being bolted to the frame with washers, split washers, and nuts on the back size. We also have oversized washers present in several locations with a couple in house built brackets.
Here is an excellent chart for your reference! The RCI recommendation is to tighten all bolts to as tight as possible with a hand ratchet and wrench. After 500 miles, we recommend checking them again.

Our sliders come with hardware that is Grade 5 hardened steel 7/16ths course thread, M8 x 1.25, and a standard M10 to replace the bolt on the lower portion of the frame. This is a good baseline with a chart like the one attached. When it comes to proper torque calculations, you have to account for several factors like the ones listed above.

Installing the full 4Runner Al skid kit while watching the install video the skids in the video are reinforced but the ones I have are not?

Is this a design change or an oversight?IMG_5714.jpg

This was absolutely a design change. The side flanges of the plate have been extended in favor of removing those center welded gussets. We were concerned about the plate flexing under vehicle load and the gussets being pushed into sensitive components.

One more thing, what type of grease would you put on the bolts to prevent corrosion of the bolts for undercarriage?

I 100% used this and recommend it for that bottom side bolt. My truck is 6 months old and that bolt had rust all over it.

I kinda went crazy with my sliders and bought a can of spray on anti-seize. I sprayed the inside of the sliders that makes contact with the frame and then bolted them on. Maybe a good idea or not, who knows.

Took longer than expected. Was confused on certain bolts and making sure everything went on correctly. A few dumb questions though...
    1. For the driver’s side, I had to reverse 2 the bolts for the ones near the brake lines. Is it okay for the locking washer to be against the slider. (Nut, lock washer, slider, frame, washer, bolt) see photo.
    2. For the electric harness that I had to detached from the frame, how did you guys secure that back onto the frame

I spray under my sliders and bolts with Fluid Film as I use this stuff all the time for my frame.

My truck is 6 years old and that bolt was fine on mine. Maybe cause I use Fluid Film for my frame inside and out. Tacoma trucks are known for frame rust, for me it’s preventive maint. and it’s working living in a cold, snowy climate.

Anyone running TRD Pro skid with RCI transmission skid? If so, you are probably missing the spacer and the longer bolts. I had to call RCI and pay additional $10 for them to ship these.

Well, they sent me an extra set so if anyone needs it, you can pick it up for free at 90020. I'm not willing to ship because that would be too much of a hassle for something I'm giving out for free.

I'm missing them myself, I emailed them. Waiting on a response atm. Kinda frustrating but I'll take the blame since I didn't state specifically in the order that I was using the pro skid. I will say though a heads up would've been nice given the website says nothing about needing longer bolts. Honestly seems a little fucked to charge for something when you say nothing on the page about it and it says all hardware included.
    • All hardware and installation instructions provided

They work as advertised. Had two wheels off the ground on a rock.

Going to see if I can fit tt in the hydraulic press and flatten it back out with the help of a torch.20210420_190834.jpg
