But really, I'd load them up in cases or bags and throw them in a cargo area of my vehicle and call it a day

You're obviously going to have to stay somewhere along the route a night or 2 so consider purchasing a jobox or similar construction lock box to put in the moving truck

Check your travel itinerary. Some cities prohibit firearms.

Honestly, CA to the NV border is your biggest risk zone in terms of firearms transportation on that route, but I'm not familiar with each state's laws in depth. Keep them cased and cleared and you shouldn't have any problem. Obv not leaving them unattended overnight, etc is a good idea too.

That certainly makes it more difficult

There should be ways to ship guns to yourself however that could be cost prohibitive depending on size of your collection

How many firearms? Buy airline transport gun cases and ship them.

Buy a jobox, load them up before movers arrive, lock up solid and mark as garage

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Put them in lock boxes in locations that the transporters will not be touching? Behind seats, disassembled, split between vehicles.

Thats gonna get pricey. Airlines consider guns "Special items" and usually have a extra fee for multiple "special items" in addition to the extra bag fees.

A Pelican 1740 might be a good solution for that.

Yep, that few...I'd find a pelican of the correct size to fit all 4...and bring them right to the airport

That's a lot of trust in the movers. I usually let them ship one vehicle and most of the house. There are certain valuables and documents that shouldn't ever go on a moving truck. Personal docs, guns, laptop, jewelry, and a week or two worth of clothes and toiletries I drive myself. You never know, the truck and/or the move-in date can get delayed.

The 1740 is exactly meant for that, hence the specific recommendation. Can fit 3 long guns and a few handguns in it easy. longer bolt guns might be an issue though
