If you pack them and let the movers transport them, make sure you make them aware that. Transporting them across different state lines can be tricky, depending on the state laws. make sure there is a trigger lock on each one and they are in a case.

Another option is to case them up and have your local FFL ship them to your new local FFL, or the receiving end may accept non-FFL'd individual's shipments.

They typically fedex them as I recall.

Safest bet might be if you can get a local ffl to ship them to another ffl near your new place. If they're reputable, they should be able to take care of properly securing and shipping everything.

@US Marine you can just sell them to me lol.

In all seriousness good luck with the move and don’t trust a shipping company hired by Uncle Sam with anything especially important to you.

Having done quite a few personal moves, non-uncle sam paid shippers do an equally shitty job.

I'd rather fly than trust FedEx or UPS

Then when you get there you can't get them until you get a new local ID...and do ANOTHER background check on your own guns

    Nope

    Check them on the plane

Unfortunately doing anything firearm related in CA is a whole mess of legal issues, so letting the professionals handle it is probably the smartest thing to do. Enjoy removing any receiver splitting devices or permanent magazine catches once your in Tennessee :D. And enjoy a foregrip, flash hider, or even a standard capacity magazine lol. As far as guns go, it's great getting out of CA.

You may transport unloaded firearms in a locked hard-sided container as checked baggage only depending on the airlines. Declare the firearm to the airline when checking your bag at the ticket counter. The container must completely secure the firearm from being accessed by anyone.

I shipped 2 pistols from ft wayne to greenville.
1 tsa approved case with lock.
It started out ok. Checked them in at ft wayne airport. Both guns had super sentimental value. A Ruger super redhawk given to me by my dad. And the other, A colt 1911a1 that was given to my grandfather after he returned home from the liberation after surviving the german death march (1944-1945 and living in a pow camp until the liberation.

I was super hesitant to send them but I did anyway.

So all went well until I got to greenvile airport.
    I waited 3 hours.......no case, no guns.
    I was freaking out!!

I made a call the next day and the told me they got held up in ft wayne after a dog smelled powder ressidue. And they assure ne they would be along shortly.

2 weeks later I got a call. It was soneone at GSP asking if I was home and they were going to deliver my firearms. They did and everything turned out fine.

Honestly, I would just tripple check to make sure they are unloaded and wrap them up and put them behind the seat of the truck and let them ship with the courier.
    my 2 cents.

lol. sorry, a little rambling there.
Also. If its only 2 pistols and a rifle, any ffl should be able to ship them for maby $100.

Call the local ffl to where you are moving to and ask them all your questions. We here can only give our opinions. An I don’t trust mine half the time.

I just flew with some gats and NFA items a couple weeks ago (Delta). No hassles. Keep the ammo separate in the mfg packaging and non-TSA locks on your cases. Be nice to the gate agent and the TSA inspector, enjoy a pre-flight beverage.

BTW, you can put the handgun in a case and that case in your suitcase (as long as you declare). That way they don't lose your regular luggage OR your long gun.

I dread my next move logistically after getting a pelican case each for my "good" range guns, plus the other safe queens in soft cases.
