    Meh I'd disagree. The gusset removes a lot of the deflection that can happen based on the spindles already awkward design. The top basically can act as a big pivot point and with a vertical strength added to both front to back and left to right, it almost boxes the spindle arm 3/4 of the way.

    Haha understood. I hate TC too only for the fact that their coil bucket gussets are rage inducing when it comes to fit.

    I had fun changing an alternator on a friends truck with those annoyances in the way. Every usual way that you would orient a tool or your hand was no longer applicable haha. I wish they'd call them UCA gussets though cause they do nothing for the bucket.

    Oh man my Cadillac alt was hard enough to get in before I had the gussets, hope it doesn't fail anytime soon. :rofl: And agree, they make the UCA double shear, and gusset the back side of the bucket, but the front of the bucket is typically where it fails. Thankfully I did @eimkeith's top plate gusset at the same time, but I'd like to get a secondary hoop on top of the bucket eventually. I really like @Reh5108's new gussets he designed.

    Fair enough. I think they're sufficient, but thicker than the 1/8" TC ones couldn't hurt. :notsure:

    :rofl: It was a whole day getting those to fit right.

    I was so happy when my (cough) 2nd gen spindle gussets fit up without any issues.

    Eh, I think they help prevent the whole bucket from being pushed inwards. A crossbrace would still be the best IMO. And I don't remember it being bad to change the alternator. The oil filter, however, is now a bigger pain to get to.

    It wasn't fun to change that caddy alt that Mike has, might be okay on the small OEM one though. We're in agreement on the crossbrace, that would be great, hard to get the clearance though for sure.

    Maybe some do, maybe that's what toyota supplies as a replacement. I know the tapered shafts are what you get from toyota on a 4runner thats never had a replacement.

    They're stamped all over with the TEQ logo and part nums (shafts, joints, boots), they have the properly made outer joint too like toyota does, parts stores usually cheap out and they're not machined to the edges. Maybe you got a chimera haha, or someone put a taco shaft in.
