Ok? As with everything the best way to voice your opinion is with your wallet, and like I said unless you're just getting hundreds or thousands of people PMing you, then it still seems like a minority opinion. I don't really have a dog in this fight. I have OVTune 2.0 and love what it did for my truck over stock. I'll probably try out the KDmax 6.0 tune and see if it makes it even better. I read what seems like both sides of the story for this current drama and side with OVTune. That's it. If all of a sudden he started revoking licenses then, yeah, I might start thinking it was BS, but so far it just seems like one person so I'll side with the guy that's helped probably thousands of people's trucks over one anonymous guy on the internet. But you do you.

All I was saying was it's not "almost no one". I'm not even talkin shit. Just being honest. Most of the drama seems to stem from expectations and the psychology of the seller / consumer interactions. I'm not angry or trying to convince anyone of anything. I'm enjoying kdmax and look forward to new features and ovtunes ultimate map.

Tacoma users were upset with the drivability of their truck and @OVTune stepped up and developed tunes/capability for the user to make drivability better. There were TW members who took Matt’s tunes to the next level, developing some outstanding tunes and posting them publicly for other users to try and adjust as required. I always said some of the best tunes would come from the community if we would work together. Are tunes perfect NO BUT improvements to them are making them a hell of a lot better than what we started with! If not for @OVTune, @Mooseditty17, @PapaRee, and others on the forum making/helping make our shit better, we still be complaining of how shitty our trucks drive. We can continue to complain or work together and make tunes better for everyone!

Word of advice for anyone doing either tune.. Do your fuel pump recall before you do your tune or you could lose it from the factory if they decide to refresh back to stock

There is no ECU flash that is part of the pump recall. The only way to lose the tune is if they flashed the TSB. There is no way to lose it otherwise.

But, yeah. Being on the latest TSB just makes the tunes better.

If this happened to someone I previously tuned, I’d reflash them for free. That’s true for OV2.0 and KDMax.

Pretty sure the other KDMax tuners would offer similar service assuming it doesn’t require driving multiple hours to reflash for free.

I have read through this thread and the other KDMax tune thread. And I am just at a loss for trying to understand the process of applying and generating a tune. Can anyone point me to a TLDR that can break it down barney style for me? I recently bought a 21' OR and am I finding that I have been frustrated with some of the gear shifting and general lack of consistency with the engine's attitude. I see the reason that the TW created the tunes and I know what the potential benefits are but I am the type of person that what's to understand the Ins and outs before moving forward with a change, regardless of what the change is. (Suspension, wheel, tires etc) I am in NC and it seems Matt in Charlotte is the closest person near me.

My truck is currently stock but I intend (at some point to) to put a lift on for clearance issues in the woods in my area. If I apply a tune now, will mods in the future affect it? What is needed to apply a tune myself? And my questions continue.

For some reason this type of change is completely going over my head and I am struggling to understand it. Any help is appreciated.

You can pay to have someone flash it for you. So u don't have to deal with anything

    But there's 3 parts basically.

The hardware (cable and OBD2 adapter, plus your own laptop)

VF tuner (software to unnlock/ flash tunes)

Then the kdmax tune (a user created tune seperate from ovtune)

I just woke up after working all night (I am a nurse full time).
I saw all this talk and figured that I would say what I have said before.
Mat @OVTune has supported my business and given me opportunities to try his new features.
He has never had a bad thing to say about my tunes and he has always complimented my work (never criticized).
His software and base tunes are my foundation.

    THANK YOU MAT.
    I appreciate your support!!

Appreciate the information. Has any created tutorial of any kind written or video? Matt is about 3 hrs one way from me and I am trying to weigh the cost/benefits of having someone else do it or learning to do it myself. I am by nature a DIY guy but I know when things are beyond my grasp.

Follow up question if you or anyone knows, does the OBD2 adapter need to be specific for flashing or just have the ability to connect to a computer?

The cheaper lower end ones can cause massive issues. Not worth the headache!

Afaik, tractix is the only trusted cable / adapter

So I guess the only other question I would have is how would you revert to factory if needed?

factory files are provided with the VF Tuner flash kit for $349, so you could but that, which includes software + cable, then buy a tune pack from us, buy a tune / tune package from a tuner on here, local shop, wherever. You'd have the ability to flash to stock, tunes, etc.
