Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
if you know absolutely nothing about what is being talked about and making ASSUMPTIONS on products and mods being discussed...

not saying you are restricted, but saying that there is no point.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to note that that strut mount is FUBAR.

Regardless of what you do or don't know...

It's not a strut mount. It's a coil bucket. OP check out TTORA, there is a lot more actual useable firsthand knowledge there and less issues with the peanut gallery. That's where I'll be from now on, enjoy your peanuts gentlemen.

    ...Umm...
Thanks man, I appreciate your sincerity and help. I'm going to go down there tomorrow morning and see what I can do. By the way, what would be my best option for a "fab shop"? Does it have to be an off road place or just a metal working establishment? Like I said, I'm pretty new to all this but apart from this issue with my newly acquired truck, I sure do love the damn thing. :)

it looks like whoever owned the truck last and LT'd it, may have done it for looks as they didn't do the secondary shock mount with the built on coil bucket gussets...

as you are new to LT trucks, you would not have known to look out for that when you bought the truck...

hopefully you can get somewhere with the dealership you bought the truck from...

as for the fab shop, your best bet is to take it to a shop that deals with LT suspensions so that it gets done right...

If I were you man I'd would just have some nice beefy shock hoops made. Its most likely going to be the same price and you will avoid the problem again in the future.

As Mike said when taking it to a shop try to find one that deals in LT trucks.

And I'd Take Logan's advice also. other sites will have more info on LT trucks and give you better advice and options on what to do. There are very little Lt guys here and everyone else flips when they see parts cut and such.

yeah, Icon's new design is much better, stronger and clear the coil bucket with out having to cut. here's my truck, but i'm a 1st gen so things are a bit different. it looks like you are in Idaho...? i dont know of any shops in ID, try posting up in the ID regional thread and ask people around there for good, reputable off road/ fab shop. sorry, to say but i highly doubt the dealership is gonna help you out, but good luck regardless

I would compile pictures of the truck in its former life as the bully dog truck and show it the dealer to prove your case that it was abused prior to you buying it. I dont think that there is any doubt as to where the damage occurred. They probably launched that thing multiple times without reinforcing anything. Then when they were done they sold it to the local Toyota dealer.

I say fab shop as in an offroad shop that does metal fabrication. They need to bang that coil over bucket back into shape and then weld gussets all over it strengthen the area. An offroad place would probably be better than a metal working establishment but you take what you can get. I wouldn't go anywhere unless the dealer tells you to go away.

You have some really interesting tube work done to your truck. You should make a build thread to give us the details. Just go to 2nd Gen builds and start one.

i don't think they beat on pace trucks that hard?

it's not like that truck ever ran a course like Barstow or Primm, right?

and if they beat on it pretty hard, wouldn't they have thought to put the secondary shock hoop in there to at least reinforce the coil bucket?

that could be the reason WHY they sold the truck so soon after building it?

My guess is the owner launched it on some of those tracks before/after events. I mean wouldn't you if you had the chance? I know I would.

it's not like that truck ever ran a course like Barstow or Primm, right?

You dont need to be at Primm or Barstow to beat on your truck. :D

and if they beat on it pretty hard, wouldn't they have thought to put the secondary shock hoop in there to at least reinforce the coil bucket?

They probably didnt know about reinforcing the shock hoop etc. If it was built by a mail order parts shop (who have no idea about kit but ordered it anyway) they probably didnt think to order the extra gusstes, parts.

that could be the reason WHY they sold the truck so soon after building it?

I agree with you that this might have been the reason they sold the truck in the first place.

ya know, on our last Mojave run, we did get access to the Primm race course and well, you know...

    :censored:

    hehehehehe

guess i shoulda said Primm or Barstow or TEXAS, huh? hahahaha

i haven't wheeled in TX so don't know how rough it is out there...

although considering its snowing out in our desert right now, a roadtrip to TX sounds like fun...
