Let's See Some Softoppers

Stayed on an OHV trail outside Yosemite - DIY extension worked great. 3" memory foam mattress topper as a base over the rubber bed mat slept us just fine.

 

That is really cool, awesome job!

 

I really wish that somebody made a tubular rack for this application, because the ones with rectangular supports just don't look great to me.

 

Thats why I had a custom one made. May still remove some of the side flats though. Undecided.

 

Good looking rig all around...

 

Been through hell with that truck. Keeps on going for me. Cant complain.

Apologize if this has been answered; I couldn't find a definitive yes or no. Do the 3rd gen toppers fit a 2nd gen? I know they're an inch longer but wondered if it was close enough. Thanks!

 

Yes they do. I believe they are just ever so slightly shorter in height compared to the cab as well. But they do, as others have said in here last time when i asked this question.

Have had the softopper for a couple weeks now and really do love it. Perfect for my needs. Looking forward to sleeping in the back with my memory foam mattress. Cheers!

 

Jut put a 3rd Gen topper on my 2nd Gen. I am concerned with the amount of kilter in the pivot rod plate. Feel free to give me some pointers or call me out on how i could have assembled it better or things i can fix. I also noticed some excess material in the front corners. Not sure if thats normal or if I need to spread the rails out more than the 1/2" as instructed. See attached photos for reference. Thank you all!

 

I got home from work to find a big box from softopper on my porch. Best package I've received in a while. Took almost a month because the frame was out of stock but super excited now and installing tomorrow.

@gkomo i don’t at the moment. I can take a couple pictures after work this evening.

 

If its a hassle don't worry about it. Just trying to see the gap between the cab and the topper. Sometimes I see them on Google images and there's like a weird gap between the two.

Anyways, is ordering direct through Softopper the way to go or are there deals to be had through third party vendors?
