Got the new AlphaRex in the alpha black on today, they made all of the bottom smoked clear and you'll only notice the logo now if your right up against it and staring it. Other than that when illuminated its just all light... IMO looks slightly better than the Morimoto XB's I swapped out.

Love these lights. Definitely better than the morimotos and imho they are much nicer than the OEM Leds. Yea I said it.

the sequential lighting of DRL / turn signal Is just awesome and when you start the truck the display the DRLs go through is simply Awesome. The others just don’t compare to me Personally. To each their own.

Interested in these as well, especially since they made their logo more discrete. I see they’re on backorder on the AlphaRex website. Are they only making these in batches of like 2 sets at a time? I know there’s interest, but not so much that I can picture them being sold out the minute they came back in stock. I mean these aren’t made by @MESO. Sorry, it wouldn’t be a proper TW thread without a Meso reference.

    Haha no prob!
I actually picked up a set for the wife’s runner. Quality looks OK. NOT a fan of the DRL so these will be cracked open and some MESO mods.

I agree with Stew, quality is okay for aftermarket you can tell from the plastic texture and quality. Also I don’t know what kind of adhesive/sealant they use to close the housing with the lens hopefully no moisture... maybe stew can chime in here.

As for performance, I would say the Alpharex has better low beam performance but there’s a caveat it doesn’t throw the light as far as the Morimotos but they’re brighter if that makes sense. Also the DRLs and Amber turn signals, I would say the Morimotos are noticeably brighter.

Now for details, I really like the clear side markers on the Morimotos but prefer the overall design on the Alpharex I guess compromises are needed unless you really want to open these up and modify them.

-1 would be the harness needed to get the knight rider start up feature to work, not that another harness is a deal breaker but I also see it as a point of potential failure....

Did anyone do lux/output test for the 2020 LED vs AlphaRex vs Morimoto? I looked on that headlight megathread but it doesn't look like there are any.

I'm currently running my custom RX330 projector retrofit with CBI D2S bulbs. Love it, but I'm on the fence on these.

    @androofoo
think your cutting Hairs personally. I think unless you have the trd LEDs either the mori or Alpha will be “better” than what you are running. Between the mori and alpha I don’t think you’ll see Any type of major difference that is going to cause you Any regrets as far as Output.

a lot of people are concerned w comparing the output of these two after markets which to me is kinda pointless, they will do their job like most LEDs, both have gotten good reviews but which Appearance do you like better? The cosmetic look the HL will give the front of your truck will have a Huge aesthetic impact. The differences in the light out put though will most likely not cause crazy debate.

for me personally I think the alphas are the best looking thing going, even over the OEM Leds. The DRL on the alpha is insane and I can careless about the “alpharex” logo under the HL. It’s not really noticeable from what I’ve seen. The drl light sequence is that they run through upon start up is also badass. Just my opinion. Good luck.

    AlphaRex Projectors covered here:
    AlphaRex reflector output shown here:
Needless to say output performance and pattern on both AlphaRex headlight products is awful and not at all a legitimate headlight product. They are just relabeled poor quality Vland headlights from China Alibaba, you can often buy them direct yourself and cut out the relabeled middle man charging you the mark up.

By comparison the OEM LEDs are among the highest performing headlights available as shown here. So I'd highly advise looking at OEM LED or the new Morimoto Gen2s, but definitely stay away from the Chinesium AlphaRex train wreck, aka cheap low quality Chinese Vland products that are not a legitimate headlight in the slightest.

I've looked into Alpha Rex and I think they are good. On the other hand, I'd like to know the best place to get Toyota OEM LED headlights. Right now, I am still undecided.

If you want aftermarket look at the Morimoto headlights.

Morimoto headlights no doubt are very nice. Alpha Rex are SAE/DOT complaint... so this is the only reason I would like the A Rex and/or OEM LED headlights.

Did you look at the quotes I posted above? AlphaRex is a short range flood light made by a low quality Chinese manufacturer VLAND. It is questionably doubtful they are actually compliant, low quality China brands falsify compliance all the time since it is a “self certification process”. The Morimotos have a significantly better pattern and output, the examples shown above are with the 1.0 Morimotos, the 2.0 Morimotos are significantly higher in output.

The OEM LED headlight assemblies are covered here. Morimoto XB v2.0 covered here in post #4548.

@crashnburn80 That is disappointing on AlphaRex having low quality. On top of all that, it is quite pricey. I’ve looked at Morimoto, but my only concern is when it comes to our annual Pa State Inspection on vehicles. Not sure whether it will pass state inspection or not since Morimoto headlights are not deemed street legal. If I want to play it safe, I would go for OEM LED headlights. I really want to know where to get them? Any recommendations?
