A——->Z man, if they ain’t got it, you don’t need it.

Amazon was the only place I was able to source tires for my tractor, no dealer either could or price them realistically if they did. Washing machine parts? Yeah, they got em.

Anyone using a portable ac unit in their garage or shop? Summers pretty much here with 100 plus degreees approaching next week. Window unit doesn’t quite cut it so looking for suggestions. Garage is a 2 car so probably around 500-600 sq ft. Thinking of trying to keep the garage door closed and I have a back door to leave open for air flow and to dump the exhaust from the portable ac our.

Avoid LG or LG compressor models, IMO.

I’ve used swamp coolers when I worked in aircraft hangars, they’re effective and low maintenance. Downside is they take a good amount of space for a 2 car garage. Maybe there’s a small model that will work well?

I have a smaller one but it’s so old it doesn’t do much more than act as a fan. The size was the biggest reason for looking at a ac unit vs swamp cooler. I already have to move junk out everyday to work in the garage.

not the greatest picture but no real extra
    room

    Nice rig!

I totally understand the lack of space. My garage is the same way with my tools, gym, bicycles, kids strollers, etc., I have to constantly move things around to do anything in my garage. When I was overseas in the military we used a wall mounted ac system in our living spaces. They used no space inside and just had a fan with control unit mounted to the wall while the ac was on the ground outside. Maybe that will fit your needs but they may be a little spendy.

yeah a small mini split unit would work best. Fan and evaporator would be on the wall out of the way, assuming one of the walls in the garage is an outside wall.

Whatever you decide on, check with your utility provider- they could have rebates going. Good luck!

This style one is nice to have around too. Easy to take to whatever you need to check (like a stud or the threaded hole you lost the bolt to)

I am, make sure you get a 2 hose model, the single hose models will cause suction that will pull in outside air from every where it can. I "converted" a single hose 15k btu to dual hose but it will not keep up with my 700 + Sq ft garage.

Then I ended up with one of these (see below) it works ok but could be better. If I had the space for the outside condenser I would consider a mini split.

    Those work like shit.

They will work for a small bedroom or bathroom.

I used one for 2 months and sold it.

    Nice!

My friend who is a much better fabricator than I am recommend it. He said he was super impressed with it too. I might make my own table for it.
