my fan is loud when it kicks in but I'm pretty sure thats how it's suppose to be. There would be an issue if the fan never kicks off tho, not sure its a clutch system on the fan (just got my truck and its in the shop now so I cant check it). Just remember man, it's a truck, not an infinity Q45...

By loud, do you mean squeaky, what type of loud?

Have you done anything to that part of the truck lately, ie, replace accessory belts, water pump, etc?

The fan is loud. not squeeky just loud. I haven't done anything to it lately. I think the clutch fan is bad because the fan is just on constantly and the more gas you give it the louder the fan gets.

My fan is on constantly too, but it's not loud like you describe. Maybe the clutch fan is bad.

Sounds like the fan clutch is shot. They're heat activated... to test it, try spinning the fan with your hand when the engine is cold (and NOT running... hopefully I don't have to tell you that) It should be easy to spin as the cooling fan isn't needed when the engine is already cool. Now, when the engine is hot (and again NOT running) try spinning it again. It shouldn't spin because the clutch is engaged.

You may have an entirely different problem... i've noticed what you're talking about how when you start it up and the fan really roars for a few seconds, but mine always stops. I have no idea what could be wrong if yours doesn't stop

ur belts are slipping if they are squeeling... check them to make sure they don't need replacement or are not loose...

x2, belts may be glazed too, my truck always engages the fan clutch for a few secs. when started cold ( I thought they did only when hot) so guessing its normal for these trucks

if the "loud fan" is constant, clutch is failing, with engine off , pop the hood & grasp the fan blade & spin by hand, there should be slight resistance, if you can't easily move it at all or if it won't budge then it's fan clutch time...

I just replaced all the belts and the fan cluch and the fan is still loud. Do i have to wait for the new clutch to break in? is there anything else that could be causing a loud fan?

Usually is loud at startup, or cold startup. If the fan is loud when your at a gas station filling up then the truck should already be warmed up and the clutch might be going out or needs the fluid changed out. There's a link or a thread where someone shows you how its done. Was it @mechanicjon who talked about it?
