    Good morning folks :hattip:.

Sorry to hear you had go through that Carl. It's a nasty world out there in todays society. You are so right to count your money in front of her especially a larger amount which is easier to scam a 10 or so. I personally would do like she wants and if possible not go back on her shift...or on the other hand, Go in on her shift just to bust her chops :D. I am glad that you have been "Skillful" and walking away a winner. Me, not so "skillfull" or lucky.

Have a great day all and as always be safe.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch! I better find something to do on this blustery day! I'm gaining weight just sitting. When it dries I can mow. Don't see truck parts until at least Tuesday....Guess I can box stuff in the garage.

I don't think I've ever been treated as poorly as a customer as I do at small gas stations. Must be a miserable job if it makes the people doing so unhappy all the time. By contrast the folks at Wawa stores seem pretty contented.

Carl: Go with your gut feeling. Having once worked in the banking industry, one receiving money from a teller it is encouraged to recount the money. At the end of the day if a tellers cash drawer is over or under it is not a good thing.

Your game of skill comment reminded me of NHL fan sweepstakes, printed on the entry form is a disclaimer that if you wim you must pass a math test question.

Todays focus is on replacing the shed ramp for the large shed. Everyone have a great day.

I would say you are probably 100% correct about her trying to intimidating people who count the money so they don't count it and find out that they are short.
I will pass my experience on to anyone I know who goes in there, count your money no matter how much BS she gives you!
And just found out, SHE IS THE MANAGER!

    Good morning all,

Another 2-3" last night, at least the drive melted yesterday - waiting to see if the ground is still warm - single digits last night.

Boats, that manager is padding her weekly paycheck. So your only level to file a complaint is to the owner(s) if they are even in the area. A lot of the Stop-N-Robs are now owned by a parent corporation while some are local but own several in a community so they may not be located at a specific store. Good luck, my pension for simple and quite retaliation would be making sure she is on duty when cashing in. If she is trying to skim keep challenging her.

Going to have to take the dogs for a long walk, it is bedlam here with the two rough housing, we have rearranged the sofa and love seat - or I should say they have o_O:annoyed:

Have a great day - stay safe

Good Morning Cool Old Dudes and Susan :hattip:

Todays tasks, pack up, make french toast breakfast, get off mountain before trail gets too soft.

My gut says she's skimming, probably rakes an extra $50 - $100 a shift, maybe more. :notsure:
I'd keep going, count my winnings slowly, maybe twice...be a thorn in her side.

... or find a new store, but I'm guessing there isn't one convenient to you.

Everyone stay safe, healthy, and happy. :)

    Respect :oldglory:

I have little doubt that she’s skimming. It’s possible that it’s a cultural thing her not liking you count the money after she has (as I believe you said they are from another country) but I really doubt it. I sometimes like messing with people like that. If I won $$ again I’d whip out my cell phone and video the counting of the money. Crooks/criminals don’t like to be on video or have their pics taken. Of course that would probably make her come unglued. I think if possible I’d take my business elsewhere.

    Morning all:

No problem finding another convenient place that has those machines, there are at least 5 places just in town that have them and a bunch of other places that aren't too far away. I always said my cash is good anywhere, I don't need to put up with her BS and neither does anyone else.

Ken, she is a local woman, probably early 60's, I know her just to see her for quite a few years but that's about it, don't know what's with her, but I'm sure as heck glad that I was never married to someone like her!!
BTW: She does have a sticker on the rear window of her car saying "I'M GRUMPY", at least she's right about that! :angrygirl:

I always said that criminals are looking for victims not opponents! By you re counting the money you’re no longer her victim but her opponent, apparently she that doesn’t sit well with her! Kudos to you!

Agree. Most have that "I dawanna be here" gaze. I stopped dealing with kiosk dwellers too, when I had one turn on the wrong pump. Now it's a credit card at the pump, or no freeking sale. Their loss.. I usually buy 35gal. haha. I doubt they care.

We cut up our dead ash tree pile for another 4 hours today. I think I'll be able to finish it in one more session. I don't mind the cutting so much, but some of these trunks are enormous and moving the cut pieces around is heavy work. Also the trunks are piled up on one another so it's an interesting mental challenge to (semi) safely work through the heap. The other heavy work is using our 8-foot pry bar to heft them up onto scrap pieces so I can cut without hitting dirt, or rolling the really thick monsters so I can cut from the other side with my too-short saw. Even after we finish with the saw I am going to have to manually split some of the monsters that are too big for the totally awesome Mighty Ox LS-30 splitter we rent for that job.

I told my wife this is the last time I'm doing this. But we'll see. :)

I had posted this before a lot of you joined the porch, so this is for the newer porch dwellers! :)
Was at another gas station where I stepped aside to let others check out and proceeded to count the bill change, I was short $10! I looked at the cashier, never even got to say a word, and she reached into the drawer and placed a $10 bill on the counter, she knew she shorted me and was hoping that I wouldn't count the money.
Then there was the Delaware river bridge toll where I gave the driver a 20 to pay so I would get some smaller bills, he pays, grabs the change, hands it to me, and away we go. I start counting the change and I'm short $5.00. We got off at the closest exit, went back and confronted the guy at the toll booth, and instead of saying something like, pull over and you need to fill out a form and if I'm over what my toll receipts tally you will get refunded he got super defensive. Finally another guy with two chevrons on his sleeve who works for the bridge commission came over to see what was going on, he told me to pull over and that i could fill out a form and mail it in, I said I would fill out the form, but he decided it would be easier just to give me the $5.00 so he did. if that toll collector was sticking the money in his pocket it wouldn't show up as excess cash anyway, his money count would match receipts, and I would have been SOOL!!! :annoyed: and :annoyed:
I have no problem with someone who makes an honest mistake, but I despise crooks!!!! :(

I wish I would have known a woodworker at the time. So did the lumberjack guys! Two diseased Arizona Ash, about 50' tall, 3' and 4' diameter.
Resulted in two visits from THIS guy. One right after, the next the following spring when the gas guys dug their hole (after yard repair...)

Good morning, everyone. A wet start here again - supposed to get to the mid-50s and partly sunny. Hopefully, I'll get the brush that I cut chipped today. I've got a few other small projects to keep me busy, though. And, Tuesday is looking like the day to cut the grass for the first time.

    Be safe out there!!

Yesterday was one of the few perfect spring days we'll have, so I torched the weeds and dandelions off our brick paver driveway.. no wind, sun out, not cold. I rolled out all the water hose I have, and a two wheel cart setup with a propane tank and "the dragon". It's fun, but I have to watch it around the edges. I made up a heat shield from scrap sheet aluminum and an old metal broom stick, to run along the edges. Better than weed killer, especially since our well is downhill from the road. All I have to do is walk along, heating up whatever plant slightly, just scorching it a bit.. it messes with the photosyntheses of the plant and kills it.. what fun! Wife says I just like to burn things.

This one has it's own propane regulator, and USA made.
