I 100% used this and recommend it for that bottom side bolt. My truck is 6 months old and that bolt had rust all over it.

I kinda went crazy with my sliders and bought a can of spray on anti-seize. I sprayed the inside of the sliders that makes contact with the frame and then bolted them on. Maybe a good idea or not, who knows.

Took longer than expected. Was confused on certain bolts and making sure everything went on correctly. A few dumb questions though...
    1. For the driver’s side, I had to reverse 2 the bolts for the ones near the brake lines. Is it okay for the locking washer to be against the slider. (Nut, lock washer, slider, frame, washer, bolt) see photo.
    2. For the electric harness that I had to detached from the frame, how did you guys secure that back onto the frame

I spray under my sliders and bolts with Fluid Film as I use this stuff all the time for my frame.

My truck is 6 years old and that bolt was fine on mine. Maybe cause I use Fluid Film for my frame inside and out. Tacoma trucks are known for frame rust, for me it’s preventive maint. and it’s working living in a cold, snowy climate.

Anyone running TRD Pro skid with RCI transmission skid? If so, you are probably missing the spacer and the longer bolts. I had to call RCI and pay additional $10 for them to ship these.

Well, they sent me an extra set so if anyone needs it, you can pick it up for free at 90020. I'm not willing to ship because that would be too much of a hassle for something I'm giving out for free.

I'm missing them myself, I emailed them. Waiting on a response atm. Kinda frustrating but I'll take the blame since I didn't state specifically in the order that I was using the pro skid. I will say though a heads up would've been nice given the website says nothing about needing longer bolts. Honestly seems a little fucked to charge for something when you say nothing on the page about it and it says all hardware included.
    • All hardware and installation instructions provided
    • Direct bolt on addition to existing factory attachment points, no drilling required
    • Compatible with OEM TRD PRO aluminum engine skid plate. No modifications required!

They work as advertised. Had two wheels off the ground on a rock.

Going to see if I can fit tt in the hydraulic press and flatten it back out with the help of a torch.20210420_190834.jpg

Probably the best fitting parts I’ve seen yet! Easy 20 minute install thanks to Milwaukee cordless tools.

Just a quick note on when I installed my sliders.....the cheap white plastic that holds the brake lines broke where they clip in the frame. I was careful, but they broke to easy.. part #90469-A0004 - clamp

Those spacers in the red circle were a pain. A flat-bladed screwdriver helped to hold the spacers up while I slid in the transmission plate.

The "D" washers in the yellow circle. As I was getting the transmission plate installed, I dropped the nuts. I stopped, found it went back, and couldn't find that "D" washer. There was just enough gap in the transmission cross member for that washer to slide in. I kept looking, feeling for it. Finally, with a mirror and flashlight spotted it. It took a while to slide back out.

@aturk thank you for posting the photo. Hopefully, these tips will help the next person out. Also for the next person, remember that supplied hardware is SAE. 17mm seems to work, but you may need a 3/4" wrench. Ditto for 14mm and 9/16". Hint, I should have checked before installing them.

I got my full skids installed and went back ordering the fuel tank skid plate this week. I was under the truck and remembered using a bar of soap to plug a fuel tank to make it home in 1976. I went through a bar of ivory soap, got soaked in gasoline but made it back home. The price of fuel tank skid seemed cheap when that memory came to mind. Little Mom Pop grocery store in Northern California and guy soaked in gasoline stops for gas and buys a bar of soap. Forest Hill, CA. It was a Deja Vu moment to be looking at the fuel tank, remembering that, where the hell has the past 45 years gone!

I didn't have any issues, but my skids were aluminum. Holding up the steel tranny skid while sliding it around under the truck would be tough I'm sure.

Just realized it's been about 6 weeks since I placed my order for the skid plate package and fuel skid. So it's getting close!

Welp. Opened up my boxes from RCI, I've got the transmission skid plate, but not the T-case skid I ordered. They bothered to send me the crossmember, but no skid plate to mount to it. I get it, things fall through the cracks but after most people who ordered AFTER me got their skids, would have been nice to get my full order in.

Look closely. The t-case skid is wrapped up tight nestled with your transmission plate!
