Buy a plane ticket to east coast and drive back considering you can get 3k off.
For 13k difference I'd drive coast to coast in a heartbeat!

After a 5 month long wait, I finally got my 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport Access Cab with 6 speed manual transmission in Army Green at the end of March, placed my order late October. When I placed my order it was agreed upon that I get this exact truck at MSRP minus $1,000.

At the time of purchase, the MSRP was $36,674.00. Right off the bat we deduct the $1,000 agreed upon, the purchase price was now $35,674.00. When I picked the truck up in March, Toyota was running an incentive($1,000 off any 2021 Tacoma) so my total purchase price, before any fees/taxes was actually: $34,674.00.

    $375.00 Doc fee
    $2190.56 Sales tax
    $135.00 Registration fee

    $37374.56 OTD

I had a pleasant experience with this dealer, no funny business was played during the entire sales process. Although I had a long wait time, it was well worth it to get the truck I wanted, all for a fair price. They even beat my rate with the check I came in with from my credit union. There's not a lot of dealers out there like this one. If anyone is in the New England area and would like to order a Tacoma, and doesn't mind waiting then PM me and I'll give you details. This was my first time buying brand new and I was weary of all the tactics that could be played during dealership visits(research and asking friends for advice of the car buying process). I am happy I found an honorable dealer!

Dam now I am worried about how long mine is going to take. Ordering it 6 weeks ago as on this coming weekend. No word yet. Was told to expect 2-3 months. TRD Offroad, DCLB, Army Green, Premium Package, Advanced Tech. LED headlights.

I know they don't make many of these, was hoping to have it by June for some summer trips! Oh well, we are in weird times. I'll give it until next week and ping my salesperson again.

    If it ever comes through-
I'm getting a 2021 DCSB TRD OR manual with no additional options/adds.
    MSRP is 36,725
    dealers junk fee is $452
    tax/tag is $525
    $37,742

$1000 toyota cash gets it to $36,742
Dealer discount of $2242 gets me out the door for $34,500
No trade and putting 100% down

Posted in Feb about my deal which was $500 higher as toyota cash was $500 lower.
Salesman doesn't appear to have done anything. He had even given me a sales sheet, build date, ETA...
I met with someone (higher up) from the dealer yesterday and we agreed on what I posted today.
I think I am going to have to take black. My hopes of army green seem to have been dashed by the lazy, time wasting sloth of a salesman.

I put in an order for an AG OR with MT around the middle of February too. Mine had some more bells and whistles but I'm still waiting for a build date, should get an update this week. They said they have allocation for six MT Tacomas each year and have used one so far. So hoping they can get it in before too long but the part shortages have me worried.

I honestly have no idea what he did or didn't do.
I realize it was an allocation vs an order.
The guy negotiated, gave info and even updates. After about 6 weeks he stopped responding to any form of communication.
When I went to the dealer after 7-8 weeks it appears he did absolutely nothing. He was still working there. Sales mgr wasn't too happy about it either.
Bottom line is there was no truck and there wasn't going to be.

Yep, the dealership had a sold order allocation for how it was going to be built. I didn't have any say in the matter. Ended up being about a grand in extra stuff that I didn't care for, but it is what it is. At the end of the day I'm happy paying sticker price for it. I mostly went with the Pro because I wanted leather seats and the technology package, and when you add that to an Off Road it becomes nearly as expensive as the Pro. So I chose the Pro for the suspension, special color, and better resale value, if I ever decide to sell it.

If I didn’t need a long bed, I would also go for Pro

from what I see $6k diff in loaded OR vs PRO. Though real world seems to be $8k diff.

Well detailed point and true. It’s funny, over the years on these threads it continuously gets brought up by pro owners that why not just get a pro when the fully optioned OR is only a couple grand less. They would usually either not be aware of or leave out that in the good ole days you would be getting 10% off an OR. Pros always sell ~MSRP. How many people get their OR then immediately buy the pro wheels for $2500? I really like the skid plate. I’ll probably talk myself into buying one eventually.
