I would buy that truck in a nanosecond! The current vaporware trucks are all too big for my needs. I'd do perfectly well with 200 miles of range and a short bed truck.

I totally dig on the "Wolf" but at 6' 3", I worry the single cab won't be large enough and/or comfortable for my size of a person... but I do dig on the Alpha Jax version. this built up CUV might be the perfect buggy for driving around in northern Canada, with its overall road clearance. Also the pushed out flares over each tire makes it look beefy and ready to hit the dirt roads/off road trails.

I have two EV cars supported by 14Kw solar system. Other than the pickup for towing / camping/ pleasure, I have not bought gas for commute/transportation since 2018 and roughly 40,000 miles which were greatly reduced by a year of working from home (both) due to the pandemic.

Ignoring for a minute the ridiculous costs of these early EV pickups, you need to do some very careful calculations on the cost of electricity in your locale, electricity incentives overnight for EV etc (ex: Nevada super cheap, NY/New England stupid expensive electricity.)

I cannot say for sure about the pickups, but with our EV’s figure about 3-4 miles per KW.

AC use, Heater, terrain implications, lead foot, figure about 20+% less range than the advertised number.

Also, strongly recommend a lease over a purchase. EV values drop like a stone thrown from Mt Washington, much much worse than a ICE vehicle.

    Feel free to ask questions.

Someone started a business for EV vehicles that run out of battery. Basically a roadside charging service with a diesel generator. But it wasn’t successful, it turns out is is very rare for a EV vehicle to run out of power due to built in safety controls. In Tesla’s, it automatically draws you a route to the nearest charging station if you drain the battery. The driver basically needs to completely ignore all the warnings to drain the battery. With enough EV cars on the road such a business could be successful, but accidentally runnin out of power with an EV is much more difficult.

These vehicles will be electrical nightmares out of warranty in 5-6yrs.

Everything broken will require going to the dealer at 1-2K clip.

Do EV manufacturers dislike conventional door handles?

Unless you are financially wealthy l would only buy electric vehicles from a major manufacturer instead of these small upstart companies as you may have issues iafter a few years and in need of parts or services.

Negative. Much less to break and you could replace a whole lot yourself.

Do you think you can replace Tesla parts without having the "dealer" having to recalibrate some ecu computer.

Not to mention every part is OEM, thus usually more expensive.

Everything will be mass market when everyone's building them. Much less parts then an ICE car.

It's early days for EV's. And, if the right to repair movement doesn't catch hold I think you could be right for ICE and EV's. As for being nightmares, I've heard that the Nissan Leafs have, other than battery degradation, been very reliable cars. When was the last time someone said reliable and Nissan in the same sentence? There's certainly a lot less to go wrong with an EV's motor as compared to ICE.
