Jus insalled OEM cruise, non-wired '10 PreRunner

It works! And very well, I might add. I used the admittedly pricey kit from the Cruise Control Store, and it was a seamless install. Took my time with the wiring, and you'd hardly be able to tell it was installed after the fact. Very happy with this!

If anyone out there is on the fence re: putting cruise in a non-prewired Taco, let me tell you that this kit is excellent. Mine is a 5-speed manual, so I also had them include the clutch switch. Next stop, fog lights with OEM switch. Time to go enjoy my reward...

 

How long did it take to do the install? Did you have to tear apart the interior much to do the install? How can I tell if my truck is prewired?

Took me about 3 hours- I went slow, making sure I was putting pins in the correct harness, being careful not to damage the panels that had to be removed. In the beginning it seemed like they wanted me to tear apart the whole dash, but it really wasn't that bad.

As far as knowing whether your truck is prewired, you just gotta look. As soon as I found that mine was missing the plug for the clutch switch, I knew mine needed wires. Other people here may be able to give a better explanation

 

Did every part required come with the kit? Did you get it w/OEM switch cover and the extra $35 for the manual transmission option for a total of $249.90? I'm pretty sure mine is not pre-wired and want to make sure I have everything on hand before I dig into it.

yes, I went full-boat with the kit. Switch cover, clutch switch, all necessary wiring. The instructions are very complete, and if you take your time no one will ever know that your truck didn't come with factory cruise. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be happy to help further.

 

One more thing- when I ordered the kit, I specified in the notes that I wanted the charcoal grey switch cover. Make sure you tell them what color you need!

 

Thanks for the reply. I am going to do this, intermittent wipers, and constant cigarette lighter power mods all at the same time. I would like even more to swap my bench seat to buckets. I could really give myself plenty of room to work with the bench removed.
