I probably should put a coat of wax on since the trip was moved over since i planned to do it after ardbeg lol

But i think sitting down with someone who knows a thing or two and strip down everything to the paint, clay bar, and build the wax back up. I've done hand applied paste wax for the last few years but i feel like i've either done it wrong or i've trapped dirt under it.

1UP. Not cheap, but the best bike rack I've owned. Just put the bike on, push the ratched-type holders over the tires. Done.
This one has 2 trays, but since it's a 2" hitch, I could bolt on another 2.

Here's the rack on my previous-previous car:

Depends how bad your paint is, typical clay bar + paint correction should be done before any protective coating. but id be lying if I said I never half-assed it and applied it without doing those things..

When I bought it, it could only be found on ebay and some select american places, I bought off ebay.

    Come on down!:ballchain:

Chemical guys clean slate comes to mind for stripping down waxes, theres some other soaps designed for that. The poor boy way is just use dish soap.

Then your decontamination things like CarPro Iron-X, and I could go on and on, but realistically your clay bar will get most things out, and I wouldnt bother with the 8-10 step process unless I was dealing with a Aston Martin.

Realistically - Wash with heavy duty soap, clay bar, 1 or 2 step paint correct, and a coating.:washing:

Yeah I don’t know. Figured for the other stuff like the skids and rims/tires.

very nice. On my list is to build a north shore style rack. Down the road though. Can just throw the bikes in the back of the truck for the time being.

Fwiw, they are over $250 new... Which means I don't come close to that price used. Or at all.

oh so it works similar to the bike carriers that public busses use, that's neat as hell.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BwjOmuBg4E

when i used to bus around, i loved the tire carrier design where you could just 360 spin the anchor to lock the bike into place. But in this case, you need to pull out the grips and then compress them in which is better for long-distance carry.

Might as well drive over some time then
just gotta bring Dish soap, claybar, not sure what decontamination is, how does one paint correct?, hand-applied paste wax. Got it

    >already $250 new
(implying it's not a typo/ mistake) why would buddy there there think its a good idea to sell a used item for the same as "new" price?
if you're paying the same amount between something new and used, just buy the new one.
    :confused::confused:

i just want to know who in their right minds would spend $250 on mudmats when this is a thing; https://www.homedepot.ca/product/mu...m-black-bbq-mat-of-recycled-rubber/1001104700

i have a 1up and just bought a north shore 2 bike rack cause i dont like the 1up as much as everyone else does. i find running 2 bikes on the 1up is pain cause they get tangled up with seatposts and handlebars and there is too much forward to back movement while driving. bikes are held securely and the rack doesnt touch your frame or anywhere your bike can get damaged which is a plus over some other styles.

i dont have enough miles on the northshore rack to give a credible review at this point but i think i am going to like it alot better especially to run behind the Tacoma.

I had not heard of these, and have to admit that they look good. Surprisingly little info on their site though. For instance, how are the bikes secured? Edit : Found the video :)
I like how it flips back so you can open the hatch when used on an SUV.
On the movement of the 1UP, their site actually has some info on that: it's actually geared towards offroad use, and they say that it is supposed to move a bit, as if it were rigid it would break easier.
I'm not an engineer so I don't know if that is BS or truth, but mine only 'wobbles' a little bit.

from what I found on the north shore and similar racks like recon, they are made for shuttling bikes to the top of mountains. however the warranty on the north shore gets voided if it’s been off-road

    Good review on it.

I know someone who has been using a north shore rack for like 5 years without an issue. We've shuttled 5-6 bikes to joyride and rays in Cleveland. Sometimes some bikes don't fit depending on crown type

Bumped into a nice taco owned by an acquaintance of mine out on the property today at work.

I really like this Truck with 6MT And factory roof rails. 2015 with 115,000 km.

The bed box looks really heavy duty and functional for many applications.

The recon rack uses the wheel to mount it up top. Like that way for mounting, but the rest of their rack seems overly complicated with their pivot.

Finall installed hood pins for my Duraflex FRP hood.

First a 1.50" hole thru the bottom layer for socket access, then a 0.75" hole thru the top layer for the latch:

Probably spent an hour adjusting each pin to the correct length...

Wonder if mine is the first 3rd gen in Canada with hood pins?

i have wheeled with my 1up a few times and its a total surprise to me that they say its gear toward that. the bikes move around in a way that makes me uncomfortable and i found myself watching the rear view mirror constantly but i guess i didnt lose a bike LOL. i am gonna test the Northshore rack off road asap warranty be damned. it seems beefy. hoping its better.
