Yeah isn't the objectively best 3rd gen 4Runner the 99-00 with the Highlander package?

They're really all the same except when you get the crappy limited "leather" seats

The best 4r was never made

01/02 limited interior, elocker, 5 speed, j shift awd, and manual leather seats that mine has

    Yep

A stick shift (optional) and rear locker (optional), and springs that made it sit an inch taller

    No.

Exterior changes to the front bumper, grill, lights (lenses on later models are clearer).

Interior changes happened as well, you know this.

I'm talking center console and front panel controls for the rear glass, transmission, climate, and cup holders.

Not to mention the rear diff locker wasn't offered after 2000.

Also, the multimode transfer case was a 99-00 only option.

Last but not least, the Highlander model sported cloth seating and the sporty hood, and was monochromatic.

I think there’s a reason nobody chooses a dually for a mountain mobile

I've been around several, theyre all really the same different components yes, but the feel, drive, etc.

Look forward, hold the wheel, ignore your surroundings and they all feel the same

Ppersonally I don't mind having to add cupholders, change a bumper, or swap lights, The only differences that matter are if you've got a manual or automatic, elocker or not, and what t case you have if 4x4

I bet you're that guy that gets a company email, reads the first line (or replies only to the first line) and ignores everything else.

Then gets unglued, panicking with questions because you failed to read the rest of the email

@eon_blue and I both had that happen on the same day at our own jobs

Are the later headlights glass? My 96 4Runner glass headlights on the flatbed are great at night, just not ideal for doing a projector swap due to their design. But if I do the H4 upgrade and wiring to the headlights I'll blow my 04 Taco headlights out of the water anyway.

No one said they're not the same vehicle.

We were talking about functional differences.
