    Tough call for you OP.

    3175 lb tractor
    780 lb loader
    3-475 lb rear implements

So around 4400 lbs. I use rim guard in my rear tires, so that's around 700 lbs extra weight (worth it as a counter weight).

Then add a small utility trailer. I would go 18' minimum. Then again the weight starts adding up rather quickly (2200-2500 lbs)

I would suggest a bigger truck. Skip over a 1/2 ton and look at a older 3/4 ton.

    Holy zombie thread, Batman!

Anyway, I went with a 3/4 ton truck and just rent a tractor as necessary.

One of my friends had a junk Toyota a single cab short bed we welded a hitch to it and put a 7500 pound tractor on it and a 2500 pound equipment trailer and it damn near killed the leaf springs but it pulled it *we didn’t pull it on the road just in my drive way*

my 2nd gen tacoma does an excellent job pulling my 5,000 pound boat. Even did great on high speed hills accelerating and braking which really surprised me by the way people talk on here. (haven't tried super steep high speed hills). Only possible concern is trans temp, I've only done one long distance trip and didn't have a way to monitor trans temp. After doing 5k lbs with my tacoma, it seems pretty insane that people are suggesting a 3/4 ton truck for a load like that. I think modern half tons can be spec'd up to like 12k lbs.

edit: and if you really are concerned with tranny temps, you can always upgrade to a larger trans cooler. Seems like it would be extremely easy.

This setup is about 5500 to 6000 lbs and have towed it many times several hours away.
It doesn't weigh any more than a load of timbers that I regularly haul.
