$4000 difference for me but Im not liking the process Vroom uses to go about paying you.

Ur vehicle also has to be taken hauled to Texas and there is a $599 fee for that.

Went from 3rd Gen Taco to 3GT4R to 2nd Gen Taco and finally a V8 4GT4R.
I did and I didn’t even have to buy a car from them. Granted, my vehicle was a Mercedes AMG but I’m surprised they even offered to match Carvanas offer without me buying anything in return. KBB was coming in at 27.5 and they bumped it up to 33K.

It sounds like KBB isn't up to date with covid prices but I bet the dealers are still using those numbers when they can get away with it .

I tried to get an estimate on my 2021 with less than 1k mi, but it broke the system. I would need to create an account so it could be escalated to an "appraisal expert".

I have sold 3 of my cars to Carvana in the last 5 months.

Carvana's offer was always higher than CarMax and Vroom.

I think it depends on your location. Vroom is only in Texas so they might use values in that area.

Kbb and others are tied at the hip with the dealership industry for the delta between trade in and buy a new car, and resell of the trade. Autonation and Carvana are in it to buy and sell from their own inventory.

I would expect an additional $9K premium on my 22,500 mile Inferno longbed. Jeeze.

So I went back to car max online. I did so back in early March and the taco came in at $32,100, today, $35K. I know there’s an asterisk but I went through the process with my 2018 Nissan back in late March and they honored the number with no issues after their inspection.

"Found money" checks sent to millions and there's a computer chip shortage so new car prices are skyrocketing. Read a long-term, glowing review of a Kia Telluride and thought I'd just check local inventory and prices......Kia dealerships closest to me asking $5K ADM for a Kia.......crazy times indeed.

Just hard to reconcile not giving them
a nearly 4 year old truck four $3K less than you originally paid for it.

Ok. I know we’re beating a dead horse here but this is getting Monte Python silly! They might get me on the tires which are still good but they do have 23K on them. Don’t recall them asking.

You aren't kidding. I paid slightly less than that (before tax) for my new 2021 TRD OR DBCB.

I'd be interested to know how it goes.

I'm looking get out of a different (leased) car early, and the last in-person appraisal at CarMax a few months ago was ~$2,400.00 less than the online offer I received yesterday. There is a CarMax pretty close by, so I setup an appointment for Wednesday to see if I can get the offered online price. :fingerscrossed:

So I ended up doing the offer three times because I thought maybe I missed a zero on the mileage. Got 39.6, 37.2 and 39.8. Went in today and gave them the code for the 39.8 offer, gave them the keys and the registration, said they needed to test drive it and confirm the appraisal. Took them about 20 minutes but they honored the 39.8, no muss no fuss. I took it. Once I started the signing process the whole thing took about 5 minutes and I walked out with a check for the difference between my payoff and their offer. It was about $4200 more than I owed and about $3k less than I bought it for back in Oct 2019.

Ended up looking at a few Audi's while I was there but didn't take anything home. They had a total of two Tacomas on the lot, one being a 2020 sr5 already pending for $32k.
