You can use your vF flasher software to read codes. And clear them.

    Evap, small leak.

Dumb question, is your gas cap on straight and tight? Is there a nick on the gas cap seal?

Not a dumb question, thanks for the thought. Gas cap looks ok. So I just towed an empty trailer up, and hauled it back at 4k pounds back for about 60 miles. No codes.

I think my issue was self inflicted. I assumed since there was no clamp on the hose on the front of the intake, that I didn't need to clamp the T for my boost gauge. A smidge of dialectric grease on the barbs and some hose clamps got rid of that 'very small' evap leak, at least so far. Sure felt nice driving without the dash lit up.

So......how did you find the towing experience with 4k as compared w/o the FI?

Way better towing performance. OV is right, it holds gears and powers through vs downshifting and screaming. Being able to accelerate up a hill in 6th, pulling 3 or 4 psi, with 4K pounds behind me feels pretty good. I’ll still run s5 in the future as I always have when towing, but 6th can do it now.

It’s a different truck, without messing with trac this or lsd that, full throttle first gear spins my 33s around 3500 rpm. I do have 5.29s though, so your mileage may vary.

Speaking of mileage, I averaged 11 in 60ish miles, 1500 lbs one way, 4K the other.

Popped codes again today...60 miles towing and nothing, a trip to 7-11....codes.

Got TechStream working as well so I can read codes again. On Techstream when reading codes there are 'Enhanced' and 'Generic'.

With CEL and trac off on the dash...
    Enhanced...
P010064 'Mass or Volume Air Flow Sensor "A" Signal Plausibility Failure
P012500 'Insufficient Coolant Temperature for Closed Loop Fuel Control'

    Generic...
P0101 'Mass or Volume Air Flow Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance
P0125 'Insufficient Coolant Temperature for Closed Loop Fuel Control'
P0420 'Catalyst System Efficiency below Threshold Bank 1'
P0430 'Catalyst System Efficiency below Threshold Bank 2'
P0456 "Evaporative Emission Leak Detected (very small leak)'

After clearing codes using VFT, and no CEL on dash
    Enhanced...
    None
    Generic...
P0101 'Mass or Volume Air Flow Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance
P0420 'Catalyst System Efficiency below Threshold Bank 1'
P0430 'Catalyst System Efficiency below Threshold Bank 2'
P0456 "Evaporative Emission Leak Detected (very small leak)'

Looks like, according to Techstream, my very small leak is ok....and when I say ok I mean it's not throwing a CEL, I'm cool with that for sure, as I am with all the 'Generic' codes that aren't lighting up my dash.

Hope this info helps you OV. Again, I'll wait until the new tune hits and go from there.

@OVTune I transferred my reservation to @Pinchaser and he is paid in full. I sent a couple messages through zendesk, but wanted to give an official heads up here too.
I know you’ve got a lot of wheels in motion right now, but wanted to make sure I used every possible method to notify you to ship the kit to him.
I’m reluctantly joining the Ford family this summer. I’ll miss you guys. Best forum ever. I’ll still visit. Promise.

    @OVTune

I really need an updated tune since I continue to have hesitation/sputtering with repetitive exhaust backfires/ lots of black soot (but not the infamous white smoke) out the tailpipe. This only happens whenever I throttle hard (more than 40%), especially punching the accelerator suddenly at low RPM's like when trying to pass another car at cruising speed. No issues at start up, during idle, cruising or when I'm light on the throttle during acceleration.

If I try to accelerate easing on the throttle less than 25% the turbos spool and power/acceleration is smooth and progressive. Psi stays around 7-8 but sometimes peaks to 9-10 psi for a second or two with prolonged acceleration. I never run the truck hard until oil temp is above 150 F

Since I'm only on tune version #2, I'm hopeful this will be remedied with updated tunes. Emailed you the data logs (ticket 22272) a couple times several weeks ago.

So strange how different these truck are. I have no issues with acceleration, but have cold start and idle issues in the first 20 seconds, as well as a shitty ride until the motor is at operating temp.

I get a dark cloud of smoke first gear full throttle if I don’t do it for a while, if I do it twice in a row there’s no smoke on the second full throttle pull. Almost like there’s buildup that needs burned off or something once in a while. I have black soot too on the tailpipe and a spot in the driveway where I warm it up.

So as usual shipping companies continue to cock things up.

Mat did UPS next day air on my replacement wastegate. Was supposed to arrive on Friday, it arrived in El Paso that day but is only now on the truck for delivery.

My boost controller was supposed to arrive on Saturday, instead it went to Kansas and is now in Illinois. Shipped from Bloomington, CA via FedEx. Ugh.

Honestly I just want to stop overboosting so much that if the WG gets delivered before I'm out of work today, I may skip the boost controller and just see if the shop can swap the WG today, continue to go off of spring pressure. Maybe throw the controller in there at a later date. We shall see...
