What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Honestly never knew what the hell it was lol. It’s been a change/junk tray the whole time.

 

What did you do as far as prep and application for all those little parts in the grill? Or did you just do the border around the insert?

 

I took the chrome surround piece apart from the grill. Just cleaned it with alcohol and dipped it.

 

Ah ok I was thinking you plasti dipped the actual grill insert as well as the surround.

 

probably the first time I've seen a fully built tacoma sitting on stock tires lol. Its like putting a BMW engine in a tacoma

 

Put a tonneau cover on and put my dash cam in.

 

ha! I sold my Volks/33” last night. Got something else in the works ...speaking of BMW/performance, I’ll be mainly driving my Lexus V8 for now

 

I installed a Garmin Mini dash cam and I can’t for the life of me connect to it with my iPhone using their app and aim the damn thing though. Very frustrating.

 

thats a nice lexus. My friend has a 1991 and a 1995 Lexus LS400 and both are slammed

 

thanks! I no longer want to ride slammed, I’m on KW V3s and it’s a comfy ride at this height.

 

I have to "join" mine every time I connect to it. Do you get the message asking to join the camera network?

 

I do and it fails to connect EVERY TIME. I’m actually on my second one since I thought it was something wrong with the first one I got.

 

Make sure the phones Bluetooth is disconnected from the truck. If mine is connected to the truck it won't connect to the camera at the same time.

 

Oh god that sounds awful. Do you need it connected to the camera all the time or just to change settings/aim it? I always use Bluetooth for music in the truck. I couldn’t switch back and forth all the time.

 

I've had mine in my truck roughly ~2 months now. I've had no issues thus far. I'm not sure what everyone else is running as far as phones go, but mine is a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+. I'm able keep the phone's Bluetooth connected to the truck even when I have to turn on wifi to download an image or small video.

However, I do agree, even using the app, aiming it can be somewhat problematic. Doesn't always look right.

As you can tell from this photo earlier today , this probably needs a small amount of adjusting.

 

The phone only needs to be connected to aim it, look at or download clips. The cam churns away on its own recording all it sees when powered on.

Edit: I don’t download anymore. Just remove the sd card and transfer the clips to the computer.

 

I had issues with mine when pairing. When my iPhone asked me to join the network, I had to back out and manually connect to the camera’s WiFi rather than letting it connect for me. Kind of a pain but otherwise it’s flawless.

 

I got it to finally connect to my iPad when I had it connected to power inside my house but of course as soon as I reconnected it in the truck and tried again with the iPad it failed.

 

Installed gloss black door handle covers from ebay today.
