I'm about to switch my brake pads, I am not sure if I need to change my rotors though. How long do they last?

I installed them roughly beginning of 2018.

Great! So if I choose to do the rear disc upgrade then I probably won’t need to upgrade the MC. Thanks for the info!!

As long as there is no gouging or grooving they should be fine.

No, that is backward. If you do the rear discs you likely will need to upgrade your MC, since rear discs take much more fluid to work than drums.

This has been a fantastic thread, I am looking at doing the same, does anyone have a link, I am on the road so trying to go through the 45 page thread has been difficult on the phone. 17 DCLB OR for reference. I have seen some bundles with the stoptech rotors and their pads for what seems much cheaper than trying to get individual rotors, has anyone done this then just bought the TRD pads? Thank you in advance.

I am on the road as well and feel for you. I bought the stop tech rotors alone from Wheeler's off road. Worried about fake ones on Amazon. Next week I will have mine installed along with stainless steel brake lines and then I will buy the TRD pads and install them.

But hey, I'm just one person

I just got the TRD pads & StopTech cryo rotors. I suppose I should get some new lines too. Thanks for the Remind. :)

I'd be worried about the old pads pitting the new rotors. You want to order the TRD pads now, and ship them to me, so you can do a fresh install? Pick them up on your way up north? You can also probably pick them up from any local dealer...

Got the pads via. Amazon, no dealers would sell ‘em to me. The rotors I got from Summit.

Edit: It looks like the 2015 TRD pads are not officially released for do fit the 2016 to 2021. As far as the Stoptech Sport pads, folks seem really like them, but they're out of stock here, so you might want consider the truck and suv pads here

Think I might buy that kit myself. I will have to do my calipers also. Had them changed a few years ago at a shop. They told me the inside of my rotors had rust on them because the calipers were junk. They put new ones on and now 3 years later I have the same problem.

Despite that earlier quoted statement, the 2nd Gen TRD pads do fit 3rd Gen.

Thank you for clearing that up. I'm sure it was mentioned somewhere in the last 44 pages. I'll strike out my post.

Missed your post, sorry Ryan. Definitely need to replace them at the same time. I was thinking of buying them from a local dealer, never thought about buying them online. Where are you located?

I really do like these pads! I did them with the stock replacement rotors and it's a noticeable improvement. The only thing is they are a bit more dusty than the stock ones but it's totally worth it!

I'm in Monterey. Victory/Salinas are my local dealers. Salinas is right off the 101, and they offer pickup if you order from them online. You'd want to check, because they may not carry the TRD pads in stock. :notsure:

Not from the brakes. The rest of the trucks yes but not from the brakes.
