Alright, so I am bored as hell... I am going to write a review on my major backpacking items....

I have already done the backpack Kelty Tioga 5500 external frame

-10* Marmont Mummy bag- really nice. Keeps me plenty warm. The classic zipper issue bugs the hell out of me but I deal with it. Just have to be careful with it.

Outdoor Research Dry sack 25 liter-
    [IMG]
Very nice bag. Super light. I use this to store my mummy bag inside and hook to the outside of my Kelty pack. It has been drenched numerous times falling in streams, every time my mummy bag has come out completely dry.

    MSR Whisperlite International-
    [IMG]
Good stove. I have not tried different gases with it but have used camping fuel and works beautifully. Bought the stove in 07, have not had to replace anything on it yet. Boils water super fast.

REI Duck's backpack rain cover 100 liter-
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
Awesome cover fits my pack great. keeps everything dry.

My mess kit just came from Dick's. I hardly ever carry the whole thing so it does not weigh too much.

    Pacific Outdoor Mummy pad-
    [IMG]
Great little pad. packs up super small. Super light. Great for when I decide to use the tent.

    Hennessy Expedition ASYM Hammock-
    [IMG]
buahaha I love it. real easy to set up, fairly light. Comfy.

I custom made my first aid kit. It has all the basics, gauze, tape, some basic meds.

    Katadyn Exstream-
    [IMG]

Real nice, Kind of wish I spent the few extra bucks and got the bigger one but this will suffice. I love just scooping up some water (from a decent site) and drinking it right there while my buddies are pumping water through their purification pumps. Only downside is that you cannot let water freeze inside the bottle.

    Yak Trax-
    [IMG]
I dont use these just for camping. I do a ton of other things in them. They slip on the bottoms of my shoes in second and away I go. They have saved my ass (literally) more times than I can count. I believe everyone should have some of these things. I have walked right across some ice with friends, they fell and I stayed up... and laughed at them.... :p

that is about all my main items in my arsenal of backpacking gear.

I love the hammock. I had a clark jungle 4 season hammock and I had to sell it. I prefer hammocks over tents but my wife and son doesn't ;) So we bought a Sierra Designs WuHu annex 6

I just got rid of my Arcteryx Altra 75 as I want to downsize to a 55L pack. I have a Mountain Hardware switch 20 which is awesome for tall/bigger guys. I have so much outdoor camping/hiking shit.

While you all are on the subject of stoves I thought I would give my opinion on them. I have a whisperlite but didn't like the heat up process and the big flame that comes from the stove. My whisperlite also got so dirty while that huge flame was burning that you couldn't touch it without getting it all over you. Soooooo, I went to my local Mast General Store and they had 30% off of Jetboils. I had been looking at them for awhile but I didn't wanna spend the 100 bucks. I have tried this stove a few times now and its great. Everything packs into the cup itself and is fairly light. I like the fact of not having to carry something to light it with, it has an electric lighter. Does anybody else have an opinion on Jetboils. By the way, this is probably my favorite thread on this forum. Thank you all

thanks for posting! i like jetboils and they are good quality stoves, but to me it seems like all they do is boil water. If you wanted to simmer or slow cook some stew or apples in the moring with your oatmeal, the jetboil just cooks stuff way to fast. But nun-the-less it is a great stove you you have to melt snow or boil water.

I have the Jetboil PCS. As somebody else said, it is basically only good for boiling water, but that's all I do when i'm out backpacking (mountain house, instant mashed potatoes, oatmeal, etc), and for that it works great!

If I'm car camping I take a small grill :D

I hate that problem with the stove. That big fireball scares me sometimes. I clear a big area around me if there are leave and stuff. I have been really eye balling the jetboils. How do they do in cold/altitude? The other nice thing is they run off propane. soooooo much lighter than gas. you easily make up for the little bit of weight in the jetboil system with the propane and not having to carry a mess kit.
yeah I have the 20 oz for the real long trips.
