I just couldn’t bear waiting the weekend when I know it’s at the dealership! Any chance you can get them to Prep it by Tomorrow? Mine came in on a Friday and they prepped and delivered it the same day.

I put down a $500 deposit on a 2021 Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab SR5 (longbox) on January 4, 2021. I received confirmation today (February 9, 2021) that the truck has been ordered and it should be here in Ontario, Canada in early April. (no build date was given). On April 5, 2021 I was told it was in transit with an ETA of April 25-29. This morning (Saturday April 17) the dealership called and said it was sitting in their lot. Looks like I can grab it Tuesday (20th). Bottom line: 106 days or 3.5 months.

I put a deposit on 3/18. It was built and on its way by 4/14. Current ETA to dealership is between 4/26 and 5/3.

The wait was killing me at first, but TacomaWorld has been slowly chipping away my excitement about the truck. I see too many issues plaguing the truck still. Too many complaints. I’m at a point where I’m not sure if I should go forward with the purchase.

Dont let all these"experts" get you down. These trucks have the reputation they do for a reason.

I placed an order around the same date as you mid-March up here in Ontario Canada. If you don't mind me asking, what region are you in and what was the spec?

I ordered an automatic TRD Pro Super White. Dealer's saying should be arriving around late April (I guess in the next few weeks) to mid-May. Is this a somewhat accurate date? I'm putting a lot down for the truck so I would assume the dealer wants it to arrive soon just as much as I want it to.

Can't wait for it to arrive!

OR 4x4 AT DCSB. I'm in California, but I'm buying the truck from Oregon. This was the closest allocation they had to what I wanted and are selling it at invoice - near impossible in CA. I did inquire about a Pro, but I was told that they do not have any allocations left for those.

Nice! That's the thing if you're in the States, I feel like you have a lot more dealers to choose from. Meanwhile, in Canada, most dealers don't even deal interprovincially. Hopefully, my truck arrives before summer starts.
    Cheers!

I put a deposit down on a Pro 6-speed in early February in Manitoba. I was told it could be 4-6 months, or with the shortage of trucks right now, maybe not at all. You're lucky that they are giving you such a short window.

Ya, it may be just the specific spec I went for: automatic + super white. I did consider Lunar Rock, but my salesman told me it might be a longer wait. Maybe I got lucky with the build allocation, but who knows. The salesman did tell me it would take 3-6 months on the date of purchase (same as you basically), but a few days later (I would assume after they placed the order ~March 20th) he called me and said it would be here by mid-May. I asked again this week to see if everything was in order, he still told me it's coming mid-May. Hopefully, he's not bs ing me. Apparently, my dealer only gets 2 allocations a year for the TRD Pro trim. I hope you get your truck soon as well, great choice with the 6-speed!

Well guys, my appointment at the dealer is an hour from now, and the salesman called me to say we are going to have to reschedule. I said, "oh boy, what happened?" He said the truck was damaged in transit and is currently in the dealership's body shop. I asked about the extent of the damage and haven't heard back yet.

What would you guys do if the Tacoma you've been waiting on for over 3 months was damaged in transit?

I would definitely want to know what was damaged, if it was just a door ding or something minor then no big deal. But if they messed up the suspension dropping off the transporter then l would pass.

It’s a hard decision to make. I remember
Ordering a 1978 Chevy short Bed stepside that came in with a dented fender. It got bondo and paint and as the color was metallic I could always tell the difference. If I had it to do over, I would have re-ordered, but they weren’t scarce like the Tacomas. If it happened to my 2021 DCSB OR in Barcelona Red Metallic with 6 MT that I took delivery of after a 13 week wait in December, I probably would have taken it with body repairs, but as has been mentioned, if it was mechanical damage I might not have. See what the dealer suggests.

Salesman got back to me with good news. The transporter scuffed the black fender flare and they're going to slap a new one on and call it a day. I confirmed no paint damage and no mechanical damage but I'll inspect the truck to the best of my ability when I take delivery. I am incredibly relieved. I've heard transport damage is common and is usually minor, but the dealer telling me that my new truck is in the body shop and not in the "New Car Delivery" parking spot made me pretty nervous!

Were you able to track it right away? My truck was built the end of last week and is scheduled for delivery 1st week of June. I plugged in the new vin and the app doesn’t recognize the vin. However, the Toyota website recognizes it. Timing issue maybe?

I don’t believe the app tracks those trucks with manual transmissions, since we don’t really get Toyota Connect. (No smart key). My app took the vin and showed my truck’s complete configuration but i took delivery 12/11/20 and it cannot be tracked to this day.
