Is that AvE? Sounds like it.

Also, are the bottom two images animating for anyone? They are frozen for me here on TW, but animating on imgur. (edit: nevermind, i figured it out).

It was a stupid thing that one of the profs said and I can't help but postwhore it, even though probably no one thinks it is funny. Bad dad jokes? Or, sounds perfect for AvE.:rofl:

What are all though holes for? To let the lightning pass through.

    Install time.

What's the consensus on orientation of the collar? Do I place the allen bolt pointing forward, backward, or towards the passenger?

Your preference, but my design intention was to face it forward to hide it.

Got it in. Used a piece of a very large nylon zip tie for a shim. That part worked well. Anti-seize holds the shim in place nicely.

It’s quite heavy. A tap from 1st and it’s in 2nd. I’m curious how it will drive. Is it possible to be too heavy? I will find out.

Yes, but I have more experience than some with this trim. I painted my collar and cupholder surround and I have an 8 circuit blue sea compact fuse holder along with Tyco (I think it's Tyco) high current relay, the ktjo inverter 400w kit, rear seat 110 and 12v power, seat heaters, and rca/speaker wire feed to under seat locations. So I'm probably a little above average in this one specific location as far as familiarity goes.

I do like how Rick does a groove all the way around, eliminating the desire to turn the zip tie inwards on itself which is how the OEM collar is secured. That part alone, when I re-attached my painted collar, took me a fair bit of time. With Rick's collar, the groove is deep enough that you don't have to care, just zip and snip.

The orange clips near the center console no longer bite in on mine, the flimsy plastic where they mount to has gotten chewed up, but it's not like they are needed either.

Safety wire works really well to secure the boot too.

If I had Titanium I would have used it, lol. If I get material to make Ti collars I'll make sure I get some when I swap it.

In my previous car I actually used sewing thread and it worked great. Just did a bunch of passes around then knotted it. That’s what I’m planning on doing when I receive my knob

First drive completed. It’s a different experience. A lot to love beyond the great looks. Cold to touch. Wobbles more when driving as expected due to mass.

Question for those who know, the short throw shifter, does that just make the pattern tighter? I’m trying to understand how that differs from stock. I don’t desire any change in height of the knob, it’s just perfect for my arm length. So I’m mostly just interested to understand what benefits the short throw shifter might provide.

Tighter, shorter, and less floppy donky dong with the core shifter. URD is a little shorter but still very sloppy compared to the core.

A short shifter reduces the throw required to move between gears. It doesn’t have to affect the height, as it has to do with fulcrums and pivot points.

Ok, so, layman’s experience on this. Heavier knob rocks through the gears better. I am curious how the core feels but I’ll have to wait and wait before I have the opportunity to spend $300+ on that potential experience. I don’t desire a shorter row (or I don’t think I do) but I am curious.

I’m definitely a fan. Even though I do still like the TRD pro knob. Perhaps I’m just too agreeable? Or maybe life really is just a big bowl of cherries?
