It's entirely possible I just had bad luck, but that said sunroofs and convertibles are nothing more than controlled leaks.

    "Controlled" :rolleyes:

Realistically it's the other issues about sunroofs and convertibles that would keep me from owning one again, primarily being just noise extra maintenance more stuff to break and go wrong didn't use them anywhere near as much as I thought I might, I mean the 4Runners was pretty much non-functional from day one it was kind of cool to watch the rain when I was sitting in the truck but I only think of a half a dozen times I actually did that and once I put a roof rack on that was pretty much done.

Another big gripe about them is the amount of head space they take up. The dip down into the cabin for the tracks and for the glass to come down and retract would have much rather had the ability to turn a 20 oz soda bottoms up.

    But anyways...

Isn't Porkins supposed to be bigger than that...? Maybe I'm thinking of the "THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS!" animated emoji...?

I saw this 2015 Tacoma AC at the Raceway Park Spring 2021 Swap Meet and Car show; It is obviously a 4x4, and I'm assuming it's a V6, but I'm not totally sure what trim level it is...

Note that it does not have fog lights. I remember sitting in a brand new 2015 model just like this at either the Philly International Auto Show or the Lehigh Valley Auto Show, and being surprised that despite being a fairly well-equipped access cab, it DID NOT have intermittent windshield wipers; I do not remember if it had fog lights or a backup camera, but it did have cruise control and DID NOT have intermittent wipers. This one appears to have a factory backup camera in the tailgate handle, but it is relatively easy to install an OEM unit in a base model truck that wasn't previously equipped with one, which could very well be the case here; I do not know if the one I sat at the auto show all those years ago had a backup camera.

You will also notice that this Taco has color-keyed bumpers and blacked out wheels, like the one I sat in back in 2019; I believe this is one of a limited number of blacked out limited edition base models made for the 2nd Gen's final year of production, as I have seen a few other trucks like this one driving around in the last six years.

SR modle. Can't recall, think 14/15 black Baja wheels, not TRD beadlocks and smoke headlights from the Pro. Maybe a convince pkg. Turn signal mirrors from the Sport, and color matched grill, and no side badging.

    The cleanest 2nd gens produced.

Edit was it called a SX?

And knowing how easy is it to install intermittent wipers, I'd buy one in a heartbeat; I didn't put intermittent wipers in my 2010 until December 2016 because I didn't join TW until the summer of 2014 and had been convinced by numerous parties that it was not an easy endeavor...

Also, did the SR come without door emblems or has this one been debadged?

Accidentally posted this a little out of order; I saw this MGM 2013 DCSB TRD Sport BEFORE the black 2014 AC TRD Sport and the black 2015 AC 4x4 that will be merged into this thread at a later date...

Aesthetically, the DCSB looks better than the DCLB in my opinion, but I would choose the DCLB unless it was a TRD Off-Road with a manual transmission or a 2015 TRD PRO. I once crammed about two thirds of my cousin's one-bedroom apartment into the bed of my base model RC's bed; I would to see a DCSB do that, even with a bed extender...

This is still a pretty sweet-looking truck though!

I don't know why Toyota makes a non intermittent wiper stalk. I don't think the SR came with emblems.

Because people are buying base Tacos, Tundras, and Corollas without them, and it is cheaper to make 2-speed stalks than ones with the variable intermittent settings...

My friend has a loaded 2011 Corolla that has power everything, cruise control, and a sunroof, but he also has a 2017 DCSB TRD Sport 6-speed 4x4 and alternates between the two. The Taco obviously has intermittent wipers, and the Corolla doesn’t get driven enough for him to be bothered by the lack of intermittent wipers. The Corolla is also a stick shift and I have driven it before; The car only had about 45K miles on it when I drove it in 2018-2019, and I was considering buying it from him, but I decided I didn’t need two vehicles. Owning a Tacoma and being a member of TW is hard enough on my wallet; I can’t even imagine what I’d want to do to a stick shift Corolla if I obtained one. I’d obviously installed intermittent wipers and add a backup camera, and then I’d add a killer stereo and I just wouldn’t be able to stop myself!

I have seen and photographed at least one 3rd Gen SX...

I didn’t bother to look closely at the one in the above photo, but what threw me is that the then-new one I sat in over half a decade ago did not have intermittent wipers! My old neighbor had a 2013 or 2014 base DCSB 4x4 as a company vehicle, and it had cruise control and keyless entry, but no intermittent wipers!

I have a 2015 Dclb that came with those same rims and no side badging. It is a base model. I added backup camera, cruise control, and intermittent wipers. I also blacked out the front and back emblems and skid plate. I also got black lug nuts.

So it DID NOT come with cruise control? I once talked to a guy with a 2015 base model DCSB who insisted that all 2015 Tacomas had backup cameras. I think he bought his used and it came with an OEM backup camera that the previous owner installed, but I don't think ALL 2015s had them, as you've just proven...

And a DCLB with no backup camera?!?!

You really need a back up camera?

In a DCLB, I'd want one; I put one in my truck because (A) I wanted a 5-lug regular cab with all the options that an SR5 would have come with, and (B) it was paid for by court-ordered restitution money from a drunk driver who hit me. Also, one big problem I had before getting the backup camera installed was that I'd bump into things with the back bumper; Amazingly enough I never damaged the bumper, but having a backup camera gives me that extra help I need when backing into tight spaces.

I hear what you are saying, but unless I was constantly hooking up a trailer I wouldn't feel the need for one. I've driven vehicles with them and 90% of the time I'd rather look out the back. And about half the time you'd forget to clean it and it wouldn't be useful. I dunno, I don't feel claustrophobic in my DCLB, I feel like it is a maneuverable enough truck that it doesn't need the extra help. But you do you of course. I don't use a cap because of wanting that manual visibility preserved. I just have a tonneau cover.

Claustrophobic would be the exact opposite of how I feel; I've heard DCLBs referred to as "trail limos"...

Haha, not exactly what I meant. I meant the truck doesn't feel enormous to me. My first parallel park attempt was a tight spot and it maneuvered in perfectly the first time. DCLB is a great truck if you need options for hauling. It's not nearly as clumsy as the short beds might try to have you believe. I'm coming from an 88 4runner with a super short wheel base and it doesn't feel like a different planet to me.

Also, sorry to hear about your truck, I know that's gotta suck but glad to know you're being taken care of.
