I just completed my 3rd night drive on 74 into Palm Desert with DD SS3 MAX. Every time I’ve used them for this section of road I am impressed. It even takes a little while for my night vision to re-adjust after I switch them off at the bottom of the hill.

I know many prefer 4000k or warmer and I’m an outlier in my preference for higher wavelengths at night (at least in clear weather.) I really feel like the higher wavelength perks me up and gives me significantly better vision of the road edges and guardrails. I look forward to this stretch because it requires so much driver input and it’s very comforting to have solid gear I can depend on to ensure I’m tracking the best line.

And, yes, I know this is not the designed purpose of a fog light but at low speeds with low ambient light and clear weather, they really do kick ass in the twisties.

What?!? You mean Chinesium products are not the worlds highest performing products as they claim with obviously falsified specs while also being drastically cheaper than the rest of the products on the market? The $70 vs $90 comparison is generous on your part. They are claiming ~20% greater output intensity than the Max... for $70. So they are claiming a $70 product significantly exceeds the performance of a $250 one.

If people understand lighting specs it is easy to see and understand what a complete joke their product performance claims are. What is also amusing is taking spec data at 10ft, who does that?! Did they get their units of measurement that confused? That engineering mistake ended domestically in '86. Standard distance of measurement is 10 meters, not 10 feet. That is literally the worst distance testing I have seen published in what is tried to be passed off as an (obviously falsified) spec. So they seem to be trying to inflate their perceived lux values even though they are using falsified data or are just that incompetent.

This page is useful for converting lux at distance to distance independent candela for comparing product performance across products with differing specs:

Haha!!! I agree, they really are not that cheap when compared to the SS3 Sport that will easily beat it. I'm not trying to say they are good or that their specs are accurate. Just throwing them out there since I hadn't seen them before.

@Diode Dynamics do you have pattern info for the SS3 max fogs? I'm curious to see how the height/width stacks up against the sport and pro.

Sure I can get a mold going for a hitchpod(as long as the SS1 body is small enough to fit in a receiver)

@Diode Dynamics do you have info on the connector for the c1? Using Deutsch across the board?

Rear FU lights are certainly not SAE compliant and I don't think you'd find support from a reputable vendor for that purpose.

Not to mention that any accident caused by you blinding the driver behind you make you liable for any damages. Two wrongs don't make a right.
