Taco Sauce TX Pro Build: Custom LT, 37’s, Tundra Axle Swap, and now a Back Half?

Well they’re in lol. Couldn’t figure out a setup that offset the axle enough to clear the press. So, took an old rotor off the truck that I still had laying around, used it as a little guide, and “pressed” them in with about 5 swings of the bfh. Everything appears to have seated nicely and lines up good on the wheels. But I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on the wheel torque the first few outings

Wheel fitment was good. Didn’t torque the studs down but wheel slipped right on and everything appeared centered. So like I said, torque things down and check often the first little bit to make sure the studs don’t wiggle slightly better into place and it’ll be all good

 

Cool. Was curious how well a true (106mm) Taco wheel would fit since my tester was a 108 hub. Glad it's all coming together man! Exciting for sure

 

Did you weld in another diff fluid filler port?

 

Yeah I found one on summit and threw it up top for easier fills and also checking the gears off needed

 

Do you mind posting a pic of the location on the diff when you have a chance? Curious how it looks

 

Top and centered. The lip where it seats was just slightly bigger and 1.75” so I used that size hole saw and then a porting tool to finish it off.

Thanks. Yeah I got lucky with my locker. The installer knew someone at Eaton and called him to see if any were available since they said out of stock everywhere. Said there were 2 in Hawaii and he’d have one sent for me

 

Hawaii haha?? Well that worked out well.

 

Yeah, not sure if there’s a US hub there because they come from Australia or something.

 

Yeah, all I know is that they were on backorder until the 16th, so hopefully I hear something soon.

 

Rotors drilled, brakes mounted. Gonna wait to run hard lines until I cycle things with the new axle in just to make sure there aren’t any clearance issues. But we got a roller!

Turns out when you try to stuff a bigger axle in, you can’t re-use your old u-bolts


So that hindered some progress today. But those are on order snd should be here middle of the week so I can cycle things. Right now it’s looking like the driveshaft is going to be the limiting factor pending pinion angles.

This is still stock. 1330 to 1350 u-bolt with a tundra rear yoke so it bolts up. Hoping this will work but really need to cycle things and find out.

 

If you have an issue with the stock drive shaft, I believe DTF slid his carrier bearing forward. Not sure how much room that gives you though.
