Had to order new brakes for the sequoia... went with slotted and cross drilled rotors with carbon fiber and ceramic pads. No more warping rotors... I hope.

    Things
rotors don't warp, contrary to popular belief.

"warped rotors" are nothing more than an uneven surface on the rotor due to uneven pad material due to one of two reasons: 1) extra material built up due to an improper bedding procedure, or 2) excess and uneven material on the rotor due to overheating the pads and glazing them.

    https://alconkits.com/support/brake-pad-info/110-the-real-truth-about-warped-brake-rotors

are you bedding the pads properly or are you overheating the brakes and glazing the pads from towing?

drilled rotors are not recommended for any street vehicle, they will micro-crack at the holes over time.

Speaking of bedding brakes, put some better brakes on the Miata yesterday. Did 8 stops from 35mph to 5 mph and 19 stops from 60mph to 20mph. This is what is recommended for this car. And ended up with a headache from all the blood rushing to my head! :D This car STOPS quickly! Even with the previous Napa pads on it. Doesn't even have ABS but also only weighs 2300 lbs.

The brakes were overheated due to hard stops pulling the boat from typical North Charleston drivers cutting me off, and my in laws driving it like a F1 car when they visit. They wait until the last second and then slam on the brakes  the rotors were turned by Toyota once already. The pads look like the material is flaking apart. The sequoia gets driven very little.

It’s more cost effective to just replace them

Cant argue there, I thought about going full over lander and getting the dirt kings but that’s a hearty price to be able to easily replace LBJ’s
